Licorice Tea... how much is too much
Comments (5)I'm with Eric. Daily is far too often. Liquorice is notorious for raising the blood pressure and causing other problems. Not a herb to be taken lightly. Liquorice should not be used by those suffering from high blood pressure, fluid retention, headache, vertigo, cirrhosis of the liver, diabetes, glaucoma, heart disease or a history of stroke, kidney disease, heart disease, or by those who are obese. Best avoided when pregnant or lactating. May cause water retention and loss of potassium. Do not use for more than 4 weeks consecutively. Professional supervision is recommended. Make it just an occasional treat, not a regular thing at all....See More'Licorice Tea' with 'Reve d'Or'
Comments (7)"Was the name given because its' fragrance is that of licorice?" Precisely....well, Anise, to be more precise. Thank you Jeri, nice to know it is prospering in your climate. I kinda knew it would, since it is actually not a strong plant here in my climate; many Tea hybrids don't do well here, but thrive in California locations. I daresay this would be a good candidate for Florida and TX as well....See MoreWhat is this one year old from RVR?
Comments (19)[Edited from my original post - Sorry, Sheila, I just did a full 180 degrees on this after looking at some more pictures...] 'Angels Camp Tea' DOES seem like a possibility, if ACT is the same as the found rose we have here we call Octavus Weld. Though very changeable, OW does has that distinctive tendency to 'go starry' (as I rather inelegantly call it); ie the petals roll back and quill and the bloom breaks up into that ragged chrysanthemum or dahlia-like form. Or, as the Tea Ladies say, 'like a dishevelled parrot...' :-) See what you think... The Dishevelled Parrot quote (possibly Christopher - and Sammy - might like to chime in on this?) http://eurimblaoldroses.blogspot.com.au/2011/12/more-of-octavus-weld.html More here (and about the gentleman he's named after): http://eurimblaoldroses.blogspot.com.au/2011/12/tea-rose-octavus-weld.html...See MoreChecking in on Licorice Tea
Comments (10)Perma, I really love the color like a little sunshine in my life. I am hoping Paul will see this. I can't find his blog but he did say he is taking it down, I meant his web. He has beautiful roses. I wish I was in a little colder zone so I could grow them. But he have a handful that we can. I wonder if Carol grows this rose or seen it. I think it will grow bigger here :) Jin...See MoreSheila z8a Rogue Valley OR
