FYI protection plans don't cover cat scratches. In fact the only animal damage covered by these plans is if your pet has an accident on the furniture. The reason for this is animal scratching, chewing etc. is considered potentially repetitive damage. For example the cat could scratch the sofa, it could be fixed and the cat could do the same thing again the next day. If you are making a claim and you have a pet it is best to never mention your pet. Look at your plan and carefully follow the procedure of how to make a claim. If you don't follow the procedure they won't honor the claim. Save your receipts and paperwork as you will need them if you ever have to make a claim. When you make your claim they will ask you questions, like when did it happen. Your answers will determine if your claim gets paid. Jaymar makes a well tailored product as many Canadian companies do. They used to make some more high styled products but have settled into a more classic design. They had a rocky spell when the Canadian dollar rose relative to the US dollars as was the case with many Canadian manufacturers but apparently they managed to get through that.

Everyone forms their own opinion about the quality of furniture also budget is the key role, I try to do my research and a majority of descent furniture companies make the upholstery Goods in the Carolinas doesn't pay for them to make them overseas even though the case goods are usually made overseas.. style is another factor , Harden furniture is made in Upstate New York from trees grown on their property ..beautiful furniture quality is fantastic but the style is limited you could check out their website, I like Mitchell Gold upholstery goods they're made in the Carolinas huge material selection, and they're not crazy price I just purchased a sofa for 3000 which I didn't think was that bad.. Sherrill is another furniture manufacturer little more pricey but beautiful.. I always liked Thomasville Furniture prior to being made overseas I thought the upholstery goods and case goods were great yet someone who prefers Baker would turn their nose up at Thomasville, Bernhardt, Drexel ,henredon etc... personally I thought they were all nicely made and designed Furniture prior to being made overseas. A little research will go a long way and I'm sure you'll find exactly what you're looking for for the right price

I too am looking at couches and my choice so far has been Ethan Allen. I have two matching Thomasville sofa’s in my den that are about 18 years old. Fabric is still great but the springs are now getting worn. My Living room has a four year old Thomasville and I absolutely hate it. I did not know they were sold When I bought and so regret it having paid what I did. I have replaced cushions and the back cushion twice already. The quality is terrible. Its not what used to be So I would definitely stay away. I can’t decide if I buy Ethan Allen or reupholster the den couches that I have loved and still do.. I have been told by reupholsters if its old Thomasville it is definitely worth re-doing.

Loving my gorgeous Crypton Nomad Snow fabric on my reupholstered family room sofa. My husband spilled red wine on it about 3 weeks after we got it home <aaaahhhh!>. I cleaned it immediately with a very light spray of hydrogen peroxide and then a light spray of a fabric cleaner, wiped with a dampened face cloth. The wine came out immediately. No sign of it now. We've also had numerous dirty dog paw prints that came out easily as well. BARGAIN HUNTING TIP - After scouring the internet, I found a GREAT DEAL on the Nomad Snow fabric online at Hobby Lobby for $13/yard! That's the sale price, but the regular price is still ridiculously cheap at $22/yd (it goes on sale often). Bought an extra bolt just to have for future projects. If your are in the market for a new upholstered piece of furniture, it's worth finding out the manufacturer's COM (customer's own material) pricing and supplying your own fabric. I'm in the process of doing that now with a new living room sofa. Also, if you find a really reasonably priced reupholsterer, a little know secret is that most manufacturer's will ship their furniture unupholstered, covered in a muslin base and ready to be upholstered.
