Vinyl Pool Quote - NJ - need opinions
Comments (7)Thanks for your reply poolguy - tanning shelf is an 18 " deep (10 ft X 10 ft) entrance to the pool (one step down), then there are 3 more steps after the 10 ft going into the pool. The rest of the pool is then 40 ft long (so the tanning shelf does not lessen the 40 ft length for swimming). Made of steel and covered with vinyl liner. Essentially an area for little kids to play or adults to hang out (I have several young children). Sorry I don't have a picture. The waterfall plumbing was explained as an additional pipe (rigid PVC is used everywhere) that is capped off at the location of future WF. We want a nice one, but it is not in the budget this year. On the cleaner - thanks for the info - DH actually said he did not know how that could really clean the pool - the other option they offered was Blue Diamond @ $1400 - is that comparable to the Polaris or Aquabots? We have nixed the spa and deep end swimout. We are confused too by the concrete charges - basically 3 ft wide regular concrete is included (no cantilever). Tan tint on 3 ft around pool is additional $583. If we want the cantilevered edge it is another $1500. If we want stamped concrete 1 ft perimeter it is another $1860. So in summary, if we want tan concrete 3 ft surround with stamped concrete 1 ft perimeter and cantilevered edge the Upcharge for that is: $3043. For comparison a bullnose TRAVERTINE edge was quoted to us (from a mason- not pool company) at approx $3600. The charge to add 407 sq ft of additional tinted concrete adjacent to pool area is $2950. Comments (23)Very pretty blue. Looks to me like MasterTile Venetian series in my catalog, which (I think) is the Bellagio series online, in Indigo. It even looks like something I might want. Must be that the sample my designer had was seriously off-color or looks more "stone" in real life than I was wanting. Not sure why that tile's not in my lineup....See MoreYou're Getting a Pool in that Yard? Yep! Spring, TX Pool Build
Comments (150)We finally got started planting behind the raised bond beam! Talk about a lot of work! We had to build a retaining wall behind the curved portion of the wall with Castlerock, and those things are heavy! I haven't planted anything along the new sundeck, but hope to start that today. We also still have four Pygmy Date Palms for behind the raised bond beam, that we have to plant. Two will flank either side of the CI Date Palm for some added privacy. Here is a close up of the area we planted: I'm super pleased with the look of the ferns. We're lucky in that we only get about 1 hour of direct sun there a day, and it's from about 5:30PM - 6:30PM. Hopefully these Kimberly Queens will thrive there. I looked forever, before finding these bowls for the lower portions of the bond beam. There is a really good nursery, showcased in Southern Living, in a nearby town. They're my go-to place for hard-to-find Texas plants, and they have awesome decorative items. The bowls look amazingly like Oklahoma Wister flagstone! I've planted this combo before. It'll be white in the back (Angelonia), Liriopi in the middle as a perennial, and eventually the purple Scaevola and New Gold Lantana should spill over the front. With the Blue Plumbago in the back, the color combo should look nice. In about a month, it should be totally full. All I'll have to do is change out the annuals each season for color. The fence is in. Now all we have left is the flagstone inlay and the flagstone on the steps and we're done!...See MoreSmaller Pool
Comments (51)Jescat: The delay is most probably from Gustav's heavy rains back in September pushing their schedules off. We haven't had any rain here for about 3 weeks. It is supposed to rain later this week (figures, closer it gets to my dig!) It is a fiberglass pool, so there are no real "pool plans" to show off! It is a roughly 14.5 x 32.6 rectangle that bows out in the middle of each side which keeps it from being perfectly rectangular. It has a bench all the way across at the deep end, and steps all the way across in the shallow end. Depth roughly 3.5' to 6'. We are still undecided on the coping, but DH is now leaning toward stone. We've picked out a gray flagstone we both like. All depends on PB's quote tomorrow (he has been out of town for a week, probably hunting!)...See MoreBrandon Platt
