Infinity Edge pool construction.....new pics
Comments (148)banana, stonesmama, cdavmd, smbnobles - LOL!! :) It IS nerve-wracking, isn't it? You're right, it's like one big long suspense movie, like a really bad "B" movie or something. It's 112 degrees right now, good GRIEF. I laughed about you needing pot holders to open the car, but it's so true! The BBQ area is so hot right now we can only work for about an hour at a time. I think I'll put the sprinkler on this weekend, just so I can endure it a little better. Wish we had a pool.......................OK, wish we had a pool with WATER. Tired of looking at my big, empty, three-tiered flower pot in the backyard. Give me petunias, or give me water. Either way, this big empty shotcrete shell has gotta go. They start the thoro-seal process tomorrow, so at least we'll have a different color to look at for a few days. If pebblesheen doesn't happen on Monday, I'm filling this dang thing up with water anyway. It will be fairly watertight with all this sealant. It might even be a new hit color - "thoro-seal brown". I'm not trying to wish anybody's weekend away, but I'm hoping that Monday morning comes around very quickly! This thread is going to max out, so on Monday morning I'm going to start a new one (the FINAL chapter)! You can think of me on Sunday night, with my face glued against the window, looking for the Pebblesheen truck. When you hear the joyful screaming from the southwest, you'll know the truck is here :). Until then, I am offically on strike from posting on this thread. Thank you, smb, for the beautiful water picture!! Anyone else want to throw theirs in for a finale for this thread? See you all at pebblesheen!...See MoreAbout to begin new pool construction in Mississippi
Comments (3)I missed that it was a T2 which does have the 2" up pipe inside but it's still undersized for your pool, IMHO. The discharge port is in the way of the cover removal tool on the Super II with 2" plumbing. I don't like needing a special tool for the cover. I just love how manufacturers play games with impeller sizes and"Standard vs Energy Efficient"(Hayward) or "Standard vs Up-Rated" (Pentair). Same motors. Different impellers. There's a reason over 3 million Super Pumps have been put in service. Simple to work on, fairly reliable as induction motor pumps go, and easy to use and cheap. Please understand, I prefer Pentair/Sta-Rite products. But thats not to say I won't suggest what I think is right with other vendors gear. Scott...See MoreEarly Design Phase of our New Pool - Pics
Comments (19)We are almost finished building our pool in a very similar setting. Our lot is a heavily wooded acre and slopes steeply towards the back, just like yours. We also didn't want a huge retaining wall along the back of our pool as we have to access the rest of the back yard via a pathway immediately behind the pool. One PB wanted $35,000 just dig the hole for the pool and build a 9 ft. high natural rock retaining wall along the back side of where the pool would go. The pool (standard kidney shape gunite) would be an additional $50,000 to $60,000. We didn't go with that option, as it was like they were trying to force an ordinary pool designed for a flat lot into our unique setting. The design we ended up choosing is a two-tiered pool, incorporating an infinity edge/waterfall which spills from the upper pool into a lower (smaller) pool that we can also use as a hottub. Our design uses lots of natural boulders and stone veneer. Instead of one gigantic retaining wall across the back, we have two tiers of retaining walls, with a planting bed between the two levels. There were existing dry stack retaining walls on the property that we incorporated into the design of the pool and new patios. We were able to place the pools in such a way that the waterfall goes from right to left as seen from the house. There is also a lower patio that will face the spa and waterfall. One obstacle we had was that our ground is solid rock, so the excavation for the pool and patio area was an additional challenge ($$$) on our site. Here is a picture of our pool. Comments (5)This isn't a very clear picture, but this is our pool. Because it's a 45 rather than a 90, there is a place to anchor each end of the net across the middle of the shallow end. You can barely see it, but this shows the volley ball anchor in the loveseat. We extended it back to be in the decking instead....See Moredshlaw
