Paint Color Kitchen Walls w/dark copper tile backsplash
Comments (2)The first color that came to me is a light to med olive. We just finished painting our kitchen with BM's Natucket Grey and it have received alot of compliments on it. It is definetly more olive than grey. Here is a link that might be useful: BM nantucket grey...See MoreOn the topic of dark-painted interior doors
Comments (3)I was the one that brought this up (or revived this topic) a few weeks ago initially. It's been my thought all along that we would paint our interior doors for our build either BM Chelsea Gray or Dolphin (leaving all trim white). When I spoke with our builder today, he pointed out the few rooms where we didn't do the eight foot doors as they weren't high traffic rooms. Yet you can see some of these doors from public spaces even though they're inside rooms (a few closets, the laundry that's in a vestibule entry, etc). Our plan was to go with a lower door height and do a molding transom to go up to eight feet. I've seen it done and it looks neat and intentional. His concern is that the dark doors will emphasize that we used 6'8" doors in these spaces. So now I'm hesitant. Any thoughts there guys?? I have about a week to figure this out. And now I'm bummed because I hadn't thought about this before. Walking through with the walls and just the openings, you don't notice any difference....See MoreDo any of you have black or very dark painted rooms?
Comments (57)Here is my stab at stepping into the dark side with wall paint. It's not completely done but these photos will give you a pretty good idea. Before: After: There are still some things that need to be done including lots of paint touchups Also in that middle photo the art is just my placeholder. I think I am going to use those same frames but replace what is in them with black and white drawings. I am also going to get rid of that vase and replace it with a potted plant. I still have curtain panels to hang but I can't find the rest of my little doodads that are needed to attach them to the rings. Anyway, they are too long and need to be hemmed. Also, they are a bit wrinkled but I'm not so worried about that. They will eventually fall out. In the last photo with the bifold doors, I added those rings that you put on the ceiling to decorate around chandeliers and then added fake knobs in the middle. Something I had been wanting to try that I saw on Pinterest. I think I want the round thing to be bigger so I will add to it to sort of beef it up. Didn't realize until I added them that those two sets of doors are different sizes... There is no yellow in the room other than the chairs. Not sure how I feel about that. Those chairs started their life as green but I painted them. So if I decide to go with a different color they are easy enough to change. Not quite finished with touchups on them either so don't look too close. I think my after gives me lots more color and a ton more drama. It will make for a more interesting space to be in while I read a book or sit down at my extra long table and fold laundry ( washer, dryer, and linen closet are behind the bifold doors). But why am I kidding myself? Really I just shove the laundry in the closet and pretend that it's folded then with all the time I save I sit back in my yellow chairs and leisurely sip a cup of coffee while reading a good book... or I spend the time thinking of more crazy things to do to my house ;-)...See MoreInterior Paint-The gray color i chose looks like it's blue, advice pls
Comments (9)but i did google it and read that dolphin fin has a blue undertone. but i also read that dolphin fin is a a warm gray, and i also read it gives a true gray color. Since Diana invited me. :) That one is easy to explain. Won't help where you are but at least you'll understand what you found when you Googled Dolphin Fin. It doesn't have a blue undertone. It's not about undertones. Instead, every color belongs to a hue family. Dolphin Fin belongs to the Yellow hue family - the very end of the Yellow hue family right where the Green-Yellow hue family starts. Can see what I mean on this color wheel. Hue family is determined using a balanced quality of light. What a balanced quality of light means is a quality of light with a nice, balanced mix of all the wavelengths in the spectrum. So when you have that kind of mixed-bag, balanced quality of light in your space, Dolphin Fin will look "just gray". Some may call it "true", others "warm". but overall "just gray". When the light doesn't have a mix of wavelengths, when it has more blue to green wavelengths, then Dolphin Fin will shift and appear as tho it is blue. Nothing is hidden or under anything. It's just the way the light is and it's just the way Dolphin Fin looks under that *color* of lighting. Changing light bulbs will change how it looks. Because if you change the light you change how a color looks. That's just the way color works. But if it's looking blue when the lights aren't on, then that's an inherent light issue. Can't move your windows and doors....See MoreBeverlyFLADeziner
