Question @ starting bare root roses in pots up north

So, I have my new clearance bare root roses potted up in 3 gallon black plastic pots, and I put cones around them and filled the cones with about 4" of damp pine shavings ( in the past, when I didn't do this the rose canes dried out too fast and died). They will stay this way until the new growth is def. happening.

My question is: should I keep the newly potted roses in the shade to keep them cooler?

I have in the past kept them on the north side of our house.

But I am wondering if letting them get warmer will help or hinder their growth? A black pot can heat up pretty fast, and without any roots yet -- is this a bad thing?

Any other suggestions about starting late-in-the-season bare roots are welcome!

Thank you!
