Lighter tan/beige.

I think I would go with the gray or even a slightly lighter gray than the one shown.

I have a sofa thats a really nice gray beige that might also look nice. It's from world market.

I would say pebble or dove pub fabrics would look once with that rug

I agree with the others on the blues, but probably not a dark if you have furry pets.

Also, there are some threads on here that aren’t so favorable about Pottery Barn sofas that might be worth reading before you decide on a brandA.

Choosing cream with black legs meeting the rug. Put the sea glass color on the sofa.

Do you have a wide view of the rug? Sometimes a pattern will read as a particular color when viewed in its whole context.

With the dark background of the rug, I'd choose a sofa in the light ivory color, which would look great with blue chairs and your tan/beige walls.

I'd go for texture with a corded blue cotton or even mohair velvet:

I have a deep blue Persian rug with an ivory couch and tan occasional chairs, which I find is a good balance of light and dark. If you like the idea of a light couch, just add lovely cushions that work with rug/blue chair to pull the room together. Don’t know the style of couch you like, but room below gives an idea of the combination. Just imagine with your rug.

If you don’t like that look, suggest a light grey and tan combination for a more relaxed feel.
