Do you have any favorite single bloom roses?
Comments (32)If you have a lot of room, you could track down a plant of the 'Trier' x 'Mutabilis' seedling 'Plaisanterie' - it's one rose that totally shows it's heritage of both parents. It's gorgeous, hardier than 'Mutabilis' and also cleaner here in Maryland in terms of disease resistance so far. Definitely more of a climber, but the flowers are exactly the coloring of 'Mutabilis', perhaps even pink/peachier and contained in the petal form of 'Trier' in that charming multiflora manner. I love it. Here is a link that might be useful: Plaisanterie on HMF...See MoreAlba Roses Photo Share?
Comments (28)Tangles, I'm so glad you are going to order the Queen! I feel she is one of the loveliest roses ever created. What country do you reside in? Yes, your impression is correct. The Queen is more of an arching shrub that is somewhat languid and very graceful. She grows beautifully on a tripod, as a fence or wall shrub or tied to a trellis. I grow mine next to a wall and support her with a surround of rebar and and plant twine. She and Basye's Purple and Botzaris weave together as they throw out their arching canes across the bed. When the Queen's canes arch horizontally, she blooms all along the canes. Please post photos when your rose(s) arrive! I'd love to share in your excitement. :-) Carol...See MoreHello. Does anyone have photos of Viatera Quartz in Alba?
Comments (0)Hi there. We just placed an order for the Viatera Quartz in Alba. The color is exclusively through Home Depot only. The floor sample is gorgeous but it looks nothing like the brochure or their online sample splotch. If you have Alba installed, do you mind sharing photos of your kitchen or of a full countertop? Also, I am having extreme anxiety with all these negative reviews regarding cracks and chips. I am a home baker so the kitchen is heavily used on a daily basis. Please please tell me these are far and few incidents.. as with any other brands out there, there will always be a few unfortunate defects. Thank you in advance for your time....See MoreDo You Have Any Damask or Damask Perpetual Photos to Share (2021)?
Comments (69)Ingrid--I think Autumn Damask will always be my favorite not only fro its beauty and fragrance but because of its place in rose history. The disappointment for me is that mine do not do as well as I had hoped or repeat as often. Spring bloom is good, but summers here are hot and humid here, so summer bloom quality is not good and I never get fall bloom. I have three seedlings this year, one of which I hope is a Damask, but the pot in which it grew was left over from the year before and lost its tag so the only thing I can say about it at this point is that the leaves look European. One of the others has European leaves and the third may be Musk or possibly a Noisette. I see you are in Zone 10--it must be quite hot where you are. We have been fortunate in central Virginia--daily temperatures in the low 90s for most of the month. Yesterday, was mid-80s, high 80s forecast for today and 80s again for tomorrow, followed by a four day heat wave in the mid to high 90s for the end of the week. Lindsey...See Moreportlandmysteryrose
