Massachusetts - cost per square foot for building a home?
Comments (15)Just to give an idea of the finish levels - raised panel wainscoting in foyer and up the foyer stairs, paneled study with built in bookshelves, coffered ceiling with built in bookshelves in den, three piece dentil moulding in study and dining room, three piece crown in upper and lower foyers and throughout the downstairs except back hall (where just a standard one piece crown will be used), etc. Hope this gives you an idea . . . A Marvin window quote was over 100k for the house so we are looking into other options!...See MoreNew Garage Cost Per Square Foot?
Comments (19)After reading the posts I'm still not sure if I have a handle on cost differences between adding a detached or attached garage/shop. I haven't nailed down what I'm going to do yet. I currently have small shop (inadequate) in the back of an oversized two car attached garage. The garage is on the left side of the house. I'm considering extending out toward the street with two doors again facing the street. I'm also considering extending out for a three car with right side facing doors. A third consideration is adding a single car garage with shop to the right side of the house. The first two options allow me to turn the old space into half shop half game room. I'd love to get a ball park figure on all three to see the impact on pricing. In any case I will be doing the electrical and the interiors. I hope I have'nt jumped off topic here....See Morecost of foam insulation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Comments (39)For proper insulation nothing can be in the wall. I am working on a beta estimator for people like yourself to see what the cost are. This is phase 1 beta test and depending on how many foamers are in your area. I do foam inspections and Hurricane home fortification for insurance discounts. This is an estimator for Hurricane (Tornado) "Roof Upload Resistance". If you have your pop-up blocker set too high it will not work properly. Simple Form but if you have any questions call me @ 504-383-4786. If you refresh the screen it clears out everything (to start fresh) and if you do not click on the "Foam Seal" it does not add the Hurricane protection in to the TOTAL. You will need to know if the foam passed the NFPA 286 Apendix X, if it is going in your home http://homefortification.com/foamseal.html if a foamer screws up your home you can sue him, if you screw it up it is your issue. call me Here is a link that might be useful: Beta Foam Estimator...See MoreGeneral cost of trimming (casing) windows
Comments (2)Even "New England" doesn't mean much, as you could be in some depressed rural backwater or an upscale Boston suburb. In the best case scenario (inexpensive materials and a cheap handyman) I doubt the price would be lower than your $50 suggestion, and the $125 is entirely believable too. The casing and sill for a typical double-hung window could consume somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 linear feet of stock, at a buck-and-change per foot for pine, plus labor. There's also the question of whether the jambs of your windows are flush with the drywall; jamb extensions, if necessary, would require additional material and labor. There's no shortcut to a meaningful number here; you'll have to get some quotes....See MoreHU-615978097
