Clematis garden

Any idea who this could be?

It was the first clematis to bloom this year. Most likely group 1. I have it next to Warsaw Nike and they look nothing alike. (WN does not have white edges and has wider sepals.) This would be a common clematis as the nurseries around here a decade ago only sold the most common flowers. The seed head is a very pale yellow. - I typed in 'white edges' for clematis on Google and only found a pale pink/white one. - Thanks!

Not a type 1. Those are all species clems and this one is a hybrid. And an early blooming hybrid would place into pruning group 2.

While I have grown and sold a whole lot of clematis in my day, I am by no means an authority on the literally thousands of clematis species and cultivars available but I know of no common ones with a white or picotee edge. However, flower colors can be quite variable and often affected by both light and growing conditions so I wouldn't find it too surprising to see one that produces that edging but maybe not consistently.

Thanks for the info - I'll change my spreadsheet. - Since it bloomed on the very first day and 20 normal looking Warsaw Nike blooms have popped out since, I'm starting to think it just didn't have enough juice or sunlight to create the normal looking cultivar. Thanks again!

It's really early in the season to ID a hosta. Sometimes we even need a photo of the flowers to ID one. There are several light green hosta with a dark green edge. Some I have that look similar to that are Paradigm, Bother Stefan and Paul's Glory. There are others. When it is fully leafed out, we might be able to ID it. But, like I said it may take a photo of the flowers. Show it to us a little later in the season and we can do a better job. bk

I filled out the online contact form for Hopewell nursery and received an e-mail back, so I sent pictures of the rose. The grower said it looked like Pink Enchantment. (AKA Souvenir de Baden Baden.) So it looks like greenburgroses and Beth were right! Chris--could Hopewell have gotten a trial under the Pink Enchantment name? I really appreciate everyone's efforts!

if it was the first flower .. any chance of a minor cold event that impacted just that bud??

Absolutely - this winter has been crazy weather wise - temps 20º above normal in Jan/Feb - temps 20º below normal Mar/Apr - we never know what's going to happen. Everything seems to have evened out now though. Still 10º above what the norms were 2 decades ago, but I don't mind that at all.
