Cast Iron, Soaking, Free Standing Tub?
Comments (13)Yes, a cast iron tub is a lifetime tub. We are remodeling our upstairs bath and keeping the tub. Its 30 yrs old, because it still looks new, and its white, which is what we are going for anyway. Cast iron is made to last. When we first put the tub in 30 yrs ago, we were in our late 20's so we, with the help of a friend, hauled that tub up a flight of stairs and into place. No way could we lift that now. We could, and probably will order another cast iron when the time comes and have it put in place. Right now we are in the middle of our DIY upstairs bath renovation, so I haven't hit my DH with the idea of remodeling the other bathroom, I can imagine the reaction I will get. All in good time..................See MoreDeep Soak Free Standing Cast Iron Tub
Comments (5)Not sure what your definition of hideous is... In the house I just sold we had the Kohler Iron Works as a drop in. DD just installed the same tub with legs. A great tub but too short for my tall dh. we are tentatively planning the Kohler Vintage tub in the new house we are building. The water depth is 15". i will be following your thread to see your other suggestions. http://www.us.kohler.com/webassets/kpna/catalog/pdf/en/K-700_spec.pdf...See Morelongest (interior) freestanding soaking tub?
Comments (13)thank you, all! that's a great point to be considered, writersblock. We will definitely be trying in person, but when I went looking and trying yesterday with our designer (not DH b/c he was at work), everything I sat in was just long enough for me to stretch out and be comfortable but i was thinking that's not terribly fair to DH. however, the reminder of needing to brace in order to be comfortable is a very important one! I'll have to go back with an eye toward depth. Trying out is a must, but wanted to see if there were brands I should be seeking out for length. Now I guess I'll ask if there are brands I should be seeking out for depth!...See MoreFreestanding soaking tub
Comments (5)MTI makes some gorgeous freestanding tubs in their employee-owned factory near Atlanta. No bargains to be had, but a good plumbing supply house can beat these prices: https://www.build.com/search?f19797=free%20standing&r=24&s=SCORE&p=1&term=mti%20bathtub...See MoreMark Bischak, Architect
