So glad Mr. Amity is feeling better! I just had slate floors installed in a mudroom and when I asked about grout, the tile store salesman said, "Everyone just goes with Bone or Natural". I only found a few pics with grout similar to the slate and they were all uniform charcoal colored slate and it made the floor tiles blend together. You have nice variation, maybe you shouldn't blend, I'd wanna see those tiles! They're awesome!

LOL, this thread caught my attn because I JUST grouted some tiles on my kitchen floor & thought the grout was looking darker then the rest. ~*sigh*~ Well, it had to be done since we removed a wall & had to replace the tile that had been cut against it with whole tiles. We had extra tiles & grout from the original job (8yrs ago!) so of course I used them. ANYWAY...I figured since it was stored in a cool, dark, dry place that it would have minimum fading. It honestly never occured to me that it could be darker! Very interesting. I actually like it better. Hmmmmmmmm Happyladi- they sell a handy little tool for removing grout. It takes some elbow greese, but once you get the hang of it, it was not too bad. I like your advice Bill. I think I will just wait a few months & re-evaluate then. Definitely saw the villain, or some ancient warrior in a halting stance with his arms up, wearing one of those little skirted garbs . I think he is warning, no stop! I think you are focused on color and not taking in the patterns. If you like a lot of pattern on the counter, quiet the floor and backsplash so they don't clash by competing so much for attention. The other thing is with the stone pattern. You mentioned river with the first stone, which brings to mind flowing, soothing water but its pattern is actually quite turbulent with abrupt changes throughout. Think about whether swirling might actually be more what you have in mind. The floor tile will become more busy when all the various pieces are installed and grouted. Even though each piece has a calm pattern, there will be abrupt changes or shifts in pattern all over the floor once installed. Going with a tight joint will also give a monolithic slab appearance to the material but the pattern won't flow through it.

Hi all - does this grout look too low? It’s tough on my feet in both of my newly renovated bathrooms. Seems like tiles are uneven in some spots. Grout is level with one tile then low on the one next to it. Any recommendations on how to fix?
