As I mentioned in another post, I’m having a custom dining room table made. I have a large dining space to work with right now (21’ feet long) and I know I want the fully extended length of the table to be somewhere between 10-12’. However, the fully extended length is impacted by the fully closed length as I’m limited by the length of the extension hardware. This is where I’m conflicted. There will likely come a day when we no longer live in this house and I would like to be able to still use the dining table and don’t want it to be too big to use in future homes. Is there a table size or dining room size that is most common? Is a table that can’t get any smaller than 8’ potentially going to be too big for future homes?
