Paint Design Dilemma

Paint Scheme for Busy Open Concept Kitchen/Family Room

Hello all!
We moved into our house two years ago and I have been racking my brain with what to do in this area...color wise.

This house was built in 2005 and since has had several owners adding several upgrades...to the point they are clashing. Look at the crazy stone fireplace, the shutters, tile floors, barnwood floors, back splash, orange maple cabinets, and granite countertops.

Down the road I’d like to reface the fireplace, finish the barnwood throughout, most of the rest of our house I’ve chosen neutral walls and the flooring is majority the same barnwood. I want to maintain that flow. We are in Colorado and love rustic/neutral.

But it just gets so crazy back in this space. I’d love to pull the SW alabaster I have in our large foyer and bring it back here...any thoughts on that? Would it be too warm? I was also leaning towards accessible beige or SW Wordly Gray, any thoughts? This is just a start.

The room typically gets better light, in the photos there was a rain storm going on and I also had some shutters closed. It is a west facing room and is bright. Also please excuse the mess and the awful curtains that are up, lol.

Not really sure your question. Just paint color?
I like accessible beige. But they’re all so similar and lighting differs in every space. You should sample all options.
Btw the first thing I noticed is your dining chairs!! LOVE THEM!!! Just lovely!

Thank you! I love them too. Yes I’m just asking for paint color ideas. There’s a lot I’d love to do, but just want to start small with paint color.

If you can paint the kitchen walls and trim the same color, then the trim will look like an extension of the walls. If that is the case, I don't think you need to worry about the stained trim elsewhere.

that's a nice laminate. very neutral, as are the white cabs. Whats your furniture? wood, black, whites, metal, color sofa, any rugs, any art, coffee table,,,,,etc??? get a sofa/rug chosen first, then choose you wall color. ditto w/the countertop in your kitchen. easier to match paint to those items then to try and match those items to a chosen paint color.

its large enough you can bring in botanical patterns or geometric patterned textiles. Color of your own choosing. The far wall w fireplace and clock in the living room would be nicer if lighter. You could take the same hue just lighter. It looks a little dreary/nearly gray which is going to be yesterday's aesthetic if not already...... then almost any color scheme would be nice or neutrals for that matter. More I look at it...ceiling is not high..I'd lighten that wall...others walls if you feel like it , and work w neutrals. Just a pop of blue for accents...or green....enjoy your new home!!!!

I wish I had photos. My childhood kitchen had a wood burning franklin stove in one corner, with a loveseat in front of it on a diagonal. That loveseat was my father's office. He'd sit in that seat all winter, from morning to night with his New York Times, answering calls and doing business and even having family chats & business meetings (he was an entrepreneur - working from home long before it was commonplace.) It was a lovely little spot right in the middle of the hubbub of family life. I love your fireplace and think it can be a wonderful spot for you & your family.

I'd use some shade of warm white in the space. Keep away from grays and stay in the neutral to warm tones so it works with your other finishes. Are you removing the drapes and rods? You don't need them with the shutters. If something is needed on the French doors, add a clear UV film for the sun, or a simple white/cream drape if you need privacy. You may want to update your lighting fixtures.
