A "Lady of the Night" orchid -- releases its scent at night only, it clears up by morning then appears again the next night, for over a month

Dracunculus vulgaris, Voodoo Lily, not a pleasant smell at all that, fortunately, only last for a few days. Notice the flies on the bloom.

Sour holopchi

'Venusta', a waterlily introduced in 1910….one of the best pink hardy waterlilies that I grow.

roxsol I had to look up 'sour holopchi' ... sounds good. I like sauerkraut and cabbage rolls already.

nickel, my MIL used to have huge crockpots full of whole heads of fermenting cabbages. The whole house and beyond smelled of it. When I make them, my husband always asks “Is someone getting married?” as they are a staple at the Ukrainian weddings here.

LOL, the smell definitely puts my husband in the polka mood.
