Low-E 366 Windows
Comments (8)We have Low-E 366 glass in most of our home... Originally we went with Low-E 366 only on our SW/West upstairs windows, but due to some changes we were able to switch out any of the other SW/WEST/NW windows to the Low-E366 glass. We have a ton of glass, and it keeps us from cooking. As a side note last year we had a casement window sash unit replaced under warranty, the replacement was mistakenly ordered as standard Low-E2 glass. This was in a combination window so the picture window right next to it was still Lo-e3 366 - when it was replaced you could barely tell the difference - I could feel a bit more heat through it, but the light and color were almost impossible to tell the difference - we did have them switch it to the correct glass, but it was quite interesting to see how close the two types were side by side. Here are 3 windows in our kitchen that are 366 glass...See MoreDoes 'Low-E' have to = tinted glass?
Comments (138)@WoW Washington That makes sense. I went to your website and couldn't find a list of brands you sell. I'm looking for aluminum framed sliding windows with narrow sightlines. I'm aware of the uber luxury windows by Vitrocsa, Styline, and Skyframe, and their frames are about 1" thick. Gorgeous. But of course, the prices are as much as my entire home cost. I'm wondering if there's a narrow frame out there, maybe 2" thick, from a more economical standpoint. Milgard and Andersen are thicker than that. What brands do you sell on your site that have the narrowest frames, could you share? It's funny because I live in a old, modest beach house in Florida that JUST SO HAPPENS to have come with super narrow 1.5" frames. Even on my 6' x 5' sliding window. The frame is just 1.5" thick. Love it! But the company went out of buisness....See MoreMarvin Ultimate glass choices-LowE2 or LowE3? HELP PLS!!
Comments (11)I ended up telling Sierra Pacific that they were the same price as Marvin & that I was going to buy Marvin. Sierra reduced my whole house price by $12,000! Hard to refuse that offer. What is the primary difference btwn SP & Marvin? Also- is there a rating that tells you how the glass will reduce the chances of fading my hardwood floors & furniture? Is there more than just LowE2 rating to tell me how well the glass helps in fade prevention or reduction?...See MoreLow E in North-Facing Windows??
Comments (2)I've learned the hard way that if the light is weak, LoE will make it worse. it cuts out a bit of visible light and also gives it a blue-green hue. not noticeable with strong light, but pretty bad if that window is in a shadow most of the time. if you're still unsure, you could consider something lighter, like LoE2. these websites have handy charts that compare performance of LoE vs. regular glass. Scroll down to the second chart if you want to see comparisons for visible light: https://www.cardinalcorp.com/products/coated-glass/loe2-glass/ https://www.cardinalcorp.com/products/coated-glass/loe-366/ https://www.cardinalcorp.com/products/coated-glass/loe-180-glass/...See MoreJan
