Please Help - My palm trees are dying
Comments (11)That looks like freeze damage to me. Freeze damage doesn't usually show up immediately, sometimes it'll start showing up several days after. I checked the weather for Dallas and it looks like on the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th of January, Dallas had low temperatures of 27F, 21F. 17F and 24F. On the 7th, the high was 27F, which means it was below freezing for at least 24 hours. I think 17 degrees is pretty close to the temperature limit for chamaerops. You posted this on the 13th, which seems like an appropriate time frame for freeze damage to show....See MoreIs my maple tree dying? Please help
Comments (6)I agree on the leaf problem. Largely ignore it. Does picture 4 show a number of old wounds on the trunk which are being encapsulated well? Maybe I'm seeing wrong on the old CRT monitor. If so, did you have another tree removed a decade or so ago which exposed this one to more sun? Again if so, there isn't alot to do about it at this point. The tree is going to have them sealed off shortly. If they are mushy inside I might call someone to have a look....See MoreHELP! my potted oak tree is dying. erie out and brown roots
Comments (4)If the roots have circled it is probably doomed. Perhaps someone from the Bonsai area can suggest something because I only know enough to be dangerous. From my reading root pruning normally starts in the second year of growth when the roots are small. The top growth and the root structure needs to be in balance. If the roots are woody at this age cutting too much off will probably kill the tree but you could try removing the ends of the roots a little at a time along with some top growth. Much will depend on the type of oak you have selected as some are more sensitive than others. Comments (15)Hey guys, I have further researched what may be wrong with my lemon tree. The last leaves that fell actually persisted a while. They were withering but still hung on to the branch for a day. My branches are dying back. I think these symptoms indicate that the tree has experienced some frost damage. Right now, it's in a really sunny spot and the weather is hot in Toronto. It is 27 degrees Celsius in Toronto and will persist about 20 degrees Celsius for the rest of the week. I also understand that I will need to prune the tree from the dead branches. I understand about the fertilizer and the Nitrogen to Phosphorus to Pottasium ratio. This is my final question. Is it safe to prune the tree now when the weather is warm or should I wait a bit longer? Anyways, thank you for your help. I am still learning how to grow and take care of my own plants and wish to become an avid gardener....See Morepete wong
