Pictures?

You need to post a to scale floor plan and pictures of the space . As for space around a dining table you can go very min. at 24” but IMO not really comfortable. That is why we need the plan and pictures to really give helpful ideas. A little bit about your family also helps

Thanks for answering Peter. It just seems to be in a more awkward position like that, mainly due to it looking squashed by the pony wall and then leaving a large space by the window. If it was turned back the other way, had a large rectangular rug under the table, and all the other things against the aquarium wall were moved it would be a better start. However, if you are set on that direction, I think some tall plants or plants in taller plant stands in front of the window would look very nice. Also, I know it's not ideal, but if you switch out with a chandelier that has a chain, you can do a small swag with a ceiling hook to recenter it if you wish to move the table. Something similar to this illustration. I know it's not as clean looking, but an option.

I would get a new light that is LED 3500 K and in a style that actually lights the table. I would paint the walls the cream from the rug and then do pale blue silk drapes I love the rug it is IMO the best thing in the space and honestly if you don't use the DR why not do 4 chairs and a coffee table and some nice bookshelves and use as a nice spot for a glass of wine before dinner and a library all the rest of the time or jusrt anice spot to relax in the afternoon.
