Cabinetry Sizing Help...Pls!!
Comments (3)@houseful: I can do 2-27" vanities and then a 21" bank of drawers. If I do 2-24" vanities and a 30" bank of drawers the sinks will look out of proportion. No?? @rollie: it's an interior wall and I love the idea of recessing the tower, however, there is a stack in that wall that may make that option even more complicated. The stack may have to get moved and I don't know if I want to do that. Why would you consider the 22-1/2" deep centerpiece and not 24"?? My concern is if I can't recess the tower and the tower is 12" deep then I'm using up too much counter space on the 21" deep bank of drawers. If I go with a 24" then I have more counter space in front of the tower. Not sure if I like the look of raising the height of the bank of drawers and the tower shorter. Have to think about that one. I wish I knew how to draw or use google sketch!! I appreciate the suggestions. Keep 'em coming if you think of anything else!!...See MoreDrawer hardware size for large/wide drawers (30-38 inch wide)
Comments (10)I used over size pulls on my cabinets. For my drawers, I made a "rule of half". I used pulls that were approximately half as long as the size of drawer. So pretty much the same as ctycdm has. In the picture below the drawers on the left are 24 inches wide with 13 inch pulls. The 36 inch drawers in the middle have 18 inch pulls and the drawers on the right are 18 inches with 10 inch pulls. I also have some 13.5 inch drawers that have 6 inch pulls. Since I like the look of longer pulls, I used 10 inch pulls on the cabinet doors. If you google using the words gardenweb, pull size and drawers you will get lots of posts and pictures. Many GWers have only one smaller pull while others have 2 smaller pulls on wide drawers. It's completely a matter personal preference and sizes available in the hardware you like....See MoreHelp with lower right cabinet for plan
Comments (19)Three drawer stacks on either side of the range as you currently have planned. Only because it's what I have and it is perfect for pots, frypans, casserole dishes and small appliances with cooking utensils in the top. I happen to think that the cabinet to the far right of the sink looks kind of funny. It's just hanging out all by itself and the design isn't necessary for symmetry or visual balance. It would look better as drawers. And sorry but I don't know which "Lower left cabinet" you are referring to. If it's the one to the far left of the sink I would leave it as a pull-out for trays and put a horizontal divider at the mid-line. You would then have two levels for trays etc. Measure the width of your trays, they may be long but they aren't very wide....See MorePls help with curtains on D.o.U.S. (Doors of Unusual Size)
Comments (11)Well, after working to finish the laundry and garage cabinets and then being away May through July, the curtains are finally up and I thought I'd post a follow-up. Thanks to all for the advice, because I think having the rod hang at the bottom of the soffit looks great! The aqua curtains go very well with my "all aqua, all the time" kitchen and the polished nickel rod is similar to the handles on the DW, range, and fridge. I put the rod wide enough to be able to show the wood trim around the doors. Also, while looking for curtain rods, I found the most adorable little bird finials also in aqua! Yes, I'm a sucker for cuteness-in-aqua. Thanks again for your help!...See MoreAlohairene
