36 inch wide vanity or 32 wide inch tub in hall bath
Comments (13)Don't base your decision on the general dimensions. You need to look at actual tubs and, if possible, sit in them. I had a similar problem to yours in that I wanted no smaller than a 27-28" shower door, which limited the width of the adjoining tub options. After a ton of searching, I finally found a couple of 30" wide tubs that had equally large interior dimensions or felt more spacious inside than others. I ended up going with a Mirabelle Edenton (60"x30"x20") air bath, which was substantially cheaper than the wider Hydrosystems Lacey (and had a larger bottom interior dimension), and more attractive and sturdy feeling than the slightly cheaper Kohler Archer (which seems very tight inside but has good bottom interior dimensions. Anyhow, I'd take a closer look at 30" wide tubs and get the vanity you want. I just posted a video of the Edenton air bath in action if you want to check it out. You can also see other posts I have made regarding it and my remodel if you cannot find it locally (the brand is only sold by Ferguson's and the affiliated Californian equivalent)....See MoreLove wide drawers. But when is wide too wide?
Comments (17)The side part of my office desk is 42" so I just took a look at it from afar, and I think it will look great (I'd vote for one shallow top drawer and 3 even-height drawers below). I would definitely do heavy duty glides, especially if you're going to store dishes. We had regular (75 lb) glides in our 36" drawer and one failed. They were replaced with heavy-duty glides and work fine now (although we still keep the large soup bowls in a separate drawer, out of an abundance of caution, plus they're used much less frequently than other dishes)....See MoreTop drawers in wide drawer stacks - one drawer or two?
Comments (16)I only have one wide stack, and I split the top in two - like Lisa_a, they are used for different things. One is potholders, which gets used all the time; the other is the junk/tool drawer, which is used far less (and at non-kitchen times). It may have been weird/awkward opening a 34" drawer ever time I needed a potholder. I would let function dictate. If you are using them both for similar things, definitely one....See MoreHow to do drawer pull son 36" wide drawers?
Comments (15)Seems to me the objections to having two pulls on kitchen cabinets is more a traditional situation than functional one. Remember, many bedroom dressers have double handles(yes, I am aware the drawers are also wider) and are considered normal. Some of the objections also may have to do with how the person is working, often having something in one hand when opening a drawer for a pot/pan/skillet/etc. One example of this is the French door refrigerator. Transitioning from a single door(conventional or side by side) means changing the way the fridge is opened with something in a hand. Another situation is the way the drawers are built and how the glides are installed. Many newer drawers are not built as sturdily as they used to be and will rack more easily. Drawers with through dovetail construction are much more sturdy than half lap or similar style corner joints, which rely on glue and mechanical fasteners to make the joint. By the same measure, many glides are easier and smoother operating than older types. For myself, I'd rather have two pulls on a wide drawer then one big one. Esthetics....See Morevdinli
