Bill its nearly 10.30 pm now and raining so I will measure it tomorrow at a rough guess a flower would be about 1.5 to 2 cms wide. I had a look at my paper book I write all the plants in what day I planted then and height and width from the label 4-6 mts High and 2-4 mts wide.. I planted it in March 2005 Bill and what I do to keep it at a nice size is prune it after flowering which I usually do in December that results in a lovely low thick bushy shrub. Now the Lemon Myrtle which I forgot to prune last year as it flowers later and with Christmas and all, has grown so much this past year as it has been sitting in all that excess water from the tank overflow pipe that would be 3 mts tall now, I don't mind that being tall as its next to the Hymenosporum flavum common name Native Frangipani which is almost finished flowering, that one gets a big cut down every year with a saw Tony does that for me now as its a ladder job and I don't have the strength he hacks it something shocking which upsets me and its comes back every year.. Did it recover on its own, or is it dead now? In my experience with Hymenosporum flavum here in California, this tree much prefers a well drained, loamy soil that doesn't stay saturated in heavy rains. If this isn't your soil situation, try raising the grade with a small berm and improved top soil to give the tree roots better aeration, and start with a new tree.

Thanks for the welcome Marion. I am looking forward to moving to Yeppoon. We will be starting our garden from scratch, hope to bring my plants from NSW, though I'm not sure how they will do. So we'll be Central Qld, sorry I didn't know what section we were. We hope to have a vegie garden, and also grow nuts (if possible) and tropical fruits. We hope to get the kids involved and be as self sufficient as possible. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am going into a totally different climate to where I am now and would appreciate any help. I am reasonably new to gardening...but love it. And I want my 3 kids to feel the same. Lesley

OK - as a 'native plant policeman', I'd like to make the following observation : a large number of the posters who have suddenly appeared to support Kirilisa dont contribute to this forum on anything remotely resembling a 'regular basis' (if at all). If the welcome brigade actually took the time to read a lot of the posts in the 'Australian Native Plants' forum , they might realise that it contains some of the most thoughtful and detailed advice to be found anywhere on the Net. Even the 'zealots' dispense reams of valuable advice to those who havve a question regarding Australiian plants, and most of us have 'agreed to disagree' when it comes to the natives vs exotics debate. As someone who tries to advocate a middle ground, I often find myself caught in the crossfire in any such debate, but I'll give the 'natives only' folk this : they know their plants, their soil and their climate. I'd be williing to wager that my fellow 'police' could give Kirilisa more information on her Plumeria than 80% of the welcome committee. I accept that my initial responses to Kirilisa were uncalled for, and I believe that she is genuine, but somewhere in the mix we need to dispense actual advice - I believe that Kirilisa received sufficient advice within the first few posts to have her postpone any 'early retirement' plans for the Frangipani, so I expect that the rest of us can just go back to our rose catalogues and leave this forum to the native police.
