Kitchen Layout 911
Comments (12)Lavender_lass, The contractor started framing and he thinks having the oven on the corner will make the kitchen feel enclosed... He's recommending to move the oven to the wall where the fridge and cooktop are. He saying I can have 18" of prep space on each side of the cooktop. I thought it would be too crowded. Your thoughts? I really love the baking station. He also said we can't do the window on the left hand side of the sink because of a shear wall....See MoreHelp! 911! Addition floorplan.
Comments (5)You need a drawing that’s done to scale including door swings. As pictured the doors in the walk in closets are not accurately sized and distort the fact that the top closet will be rendered almost useless with an in swinging door....See MoreHELP! THIS DEN NEEDS A 911 CALL!
Comments (5)I don't think the room or what you've done with it is as big a disaster as you've made it out to be. I would not do built-ins. The room is already long and skinny; adding built-in on a long wall is just going to make it skinnier. Don't shiplap. Besides being overdone, I don't think it works with the brick fireplace. Sectionals are not ideal in small living rooms or rooms with lots of constraints limiting furniture placement. But you don't have really a lot of constraints other than the fireplace, and you've said you want the table there anyway. Since your windows are high up, you actually have three walls where the sectional would fit easily, though it makes sense for TV viewing to put it on one of the long walls. I'd probably put the layout much like you have it, maybe adding a chair to the conversations group on the fireplace side. I'd probably change out the rug. Maybe work on the lighting. It's hard to judge from a photograph, but the light level seems low and the whole room has a yellowish cast that could be fixed by changing the color temperature of the light bulbs (or it could just be the photograph). If the lighting changes don't do the trick, I'd think about a different paint color. But honestly, I don't think I'm getting what you think is so terrible about the room now. Everything I just wrote is pretty minor and based on MY preferences and may not apply to you....See MoreCurb Appeal 911
Comments (6)It's relatively cheap and easy to make a yard look cared for. As a diy it's more an investment of time than money. (Not sure if you'll be taking on this project yourself, but I have two little ones and like to use the "yarden" as an excuse to take a break from child care on the weekends) Clean the exterior, mow, edge, and mulch, and the place will look transformed! Based on your pictures, I'd personally focus on getting the entrance, mailbox, and group of trees by the road mulched for garden beds first. So basically the areas you mentioned. :) As far as door color, that is a tough one... your choices are a bit limited with the roof. Green to match? (A truly groundbreaking idea, no need to thank me, haha.)...See Moremrs1916
