Paint color help please!!

I have fallen in love with the color SW Magnetic Gray. It is exactly what I want in every way... until I put it on my walls. My house is north facing and it is pulling so much blue. Is there any hope for me? Maybe a similar color that will actually look this way on the wall?

I personally love the blue that it pulls out. Blues my favorite!! What look we’re you after. What colors and undertones do you want to see. And pictures of it in your space will help.

I do normally move blue but had ny heart set on this color. Here is the space (in progress, we just moved 😂).

The reason white and stained wood is used for trim is that it is usually used throughout the house - one trim color for the entire house. This does not mean that the rules are set in stone, but think about the rest of your home. If everything else is white I may not do color in just one room. Things need to feel harmonious as you walk from room to room. Did you paint the ceiling or leave the ceiling white? If doing a colored trim I would also paint the ceiling. You can do as suggested and use a monotone palette, or you could pick a second color that works with arctic gray that is a combination that you love. I love taupe and gray blue greens - I may try Winds Breath/Cedar Key/Smokey Taupe. Might test Kitten Whiskers/Hazlewood. Don't try taupe if you have any yellow beige in your floor or cabinetry. You could select a cream instead of white or a blue could be fabulous - Van Courtland Blue, Waters Edge. The complement would be close to New Age, so you could go a bit darker with piano concerto or amethyst sky.

Ok, and yes, Mega Greige should be able to work in your bathroom but I think it will make it very monochromatic. I would look to keep the walls light or a contrasting/coordinating color. Like the light stones in the border, or paint the cabinet the light color. What color are the floors in the bathroom? Next to the stove, if that is just a whole to the basement, then I would consider a hutch there that you can use to get things out of the oven, etc. As for the whole kitchen Greige, yes, that is an option as well, but I think the sage adds a nice splash of color and you can pull it across into the kitchen and in art on the walls. But personal choice. You can always look for art that has the greige and the sage and some of the other colors from the rug through the kitchen area to make it a cohesive look.

It is difficult for people to choose a color for you as colors on monitors don't look the same in person. The standard recommendation is to sample a couple colors before paying to have a large expanse painted. I have pasted in the URL for the section of the Sherwin Williams website that shows their 50 best sellers. I'm sure one of them, and probably even more than one, would work for you. However, you'll see that there are varying levels of gray and beige, some are a little of both, and there are varying levels of color intensity. I don't know what you're envisioning, so I really don't know which one to recommend. However, if you're not sure you want to go gray or beige, it's probably best to go greige. Some of their gray colors actually have a fair amount of beige in them. If you are forced to pick one tomorrow, go to the paint store with the contractor and ask someone at the store to point you in the direction of a greige and choose one that is the degree of light/dark that you are looking for. Be aware that it will look darker on your wall than it does on a chip.

Going to suggest your choices are too light. Pale Oak is a great color for north light, but I think it is going to show pink. I like this one, B.M. Solitude. Strong enough to work with the brass and perfect with the art. North rooms often need a darker paint color because you will be turning on the lights most of the time. But if you are looking at a different tone altogether, then my suggestion would be Revere Pewter. I have it in a north room, but it has lots of windows.

This evening the light hit it perfectly on the wall where fireplace is. The opposite side still looked blue. Are accent walls still a thing? Would it look nice for just the wall with the FP to be painted and the rest a white or light beige? Thanks!

On my screen the only blue ISH one is the first picture. The rest look baigey.
Accent walls are a thing for those who like it. Don’t do something if it’s in style or not. I mean do. But this type of thing is more of a personal preference. I wouldn’t do it. Many would.

The furniture, rugs, accents... will also all make a difference.

Seeing color via the internet sucks. What you are seeing may or may not be correctly represented on our screens.

That said - orange and blue are complements of one another.

Magnetic Gray may be playing off your floors. (color of the center block against gray orange and blue backgrounds.

Adding some blues and greens to the room may help it not feel as blue.

The other option is to up the chroma. Sometimes really low chroma leads to a powder blue haze that may not show on pictures, but when it is in your room you see it.

Oyster Bay is basically the same color as Magnetic Gray with a bit more color saturation.

Light and hue are almost identical, but the chroma (colorfulness) is 2 degrees higher. That little boost can really help with the blue undertones.

Moving hue families is often the answer.

Magnetic Gray belongs to the Green-Yellow hue family over near where the Green hue family starts on the color wheel.

We know that near neutral low Chroma colors from this hue family neighborhood can shift bluish in certain qualities of light.

So, the logical thing to do is move towards the Yellow hue family where we know near neutral, low Chroma colors can shift more greenish than bluish.

The answer to your question about colors similar to Magnetic Gray that have the potential to shift more greenish than blue are below.

The color that works will probably be the one you think is least likely to be 'THE one'.
