The Olympus White I looked up looks gray. My photo program reads it as having almost no color. HSV = 165, 1, 84

Changing saturation from 1 to 5 gives a green-gray on the right side below:

Thank you so much for your response. I'm clueless about this, changing saturation? Does that mean with 2 coats of paint it will look green-gray? The few people I've seen mention it in blogs say it has a blue undertone? You mentioned it reads as almost no color, so does that mean it will appear white probably on the exterior? I'm looking for a pretty silvery gray. I don't mind a hint of blue, but don't want it to appear green, lavender, or tan at all, and want it to not look white. Thanks for any more help you can give me!

SW Olympus White is a light greyed-down colour belonging to the Blue Green Hue Family.

It has a very low quantity of Chroma (which describes colourfulness), so it is a very near neutral.

Inside, in a balanced quality of light, it may appear to many as a light grey. But as light changes it would be no surprise to see moments of its inherent blue or green hue.

Outside, its minimal Chroma content will likely be more bleached-out, depending on the strength of light, to make it feel even more neutral and lighter again. A greyed off/white.

To be sure of it feeling a definite colour outside, if that’s what you are after, I would choose something with a higher level of Chroma.

Compare it to others in the Blue-Green Hue Family via the Colorographies at The Land iof Color

These colours are from the same Blue-Green Hue Family neighbourhood as Olympus White.

They are similar in Value (lightness) to Olympus White.

Where they differ most is each has increasingly more Chroma than Olympus White.

They are more colourful colours than Olympus White.

Each has more of a chance of either still feeling grey, or even more of a colour outside, than Olympus White.

You maybe surprised how much darker and how much Chroma you need, for a colour to do the job you hope, outside.

I definitely don't want it to look green. What about Sherwin Williams Reflection?

Again, these colours may look ‘just grey’ to you. They are sooo low in Chroma.

But 2 things to note.

1. Most EVERY grey/white/black/near neutral paint colour available to us belongs to an identifiable Hue Family. There’s no guarantee, with something this low in Chroma, you will be able to discern the Hue Parent accurately. But you may, in certain light.

2. Colours outside tend to look lighter and somewhat more neutral in comparison than when viewed inside.

Sherwin Williams Reflection belongs to the Green Hue Family. It may look just grey. In certain light, possibly a touch of its Green Hue Parent may be seen, but also near neutrals from this neighbourhood can shift blue in some imbalanced light.

I would test one of these two in comparison to one of the others with more Chroma to see which you prefer when viewed outside.

why don't you just get a sample and try it on your house? we have no way of knowing how it will look because the direction of your lighting will affect the tone.

If you want a plain white, then just use Pure White

Here it is by front door taken a few minutes later when sun shining differently. Along my back on the wall in the square is what I am wanting and how nice it shows with trim, but that’s it painted in the white poster also snd it looks more green.

oh yes. for sure has cooler tones to it. If you want a cool blue or green undertone, then get that one. (what color will the trim and door be? the door is a warmer red/brick color and I don't think it works w/that white)

Why not try Swiss coffee? I used it on my stucco. This was Behr Swiss Coffee. the trim is BM Wrought Iron (looks black in the picture)

The trim will be white and the doors will be black. Do you think of it as gray when you look at it by the front door or just think of it as white?

We want a light gray which will not look green, lavender or tan at all. Don’t mind if it leans a little blue in some lights. This is one of my favorite houses in the neighborhood, but new owner doesn’t know the color.

This is that same house on the side and it shows really blue which I don’t mind at times, as long as most of the time looks more like the front.

That looks like a neutral gray. more of a silver gray.

I used this Covered in Platinum (DunnEdwards) on the fascia of my house and it's very close to your inspo pic

look at Crushed Ice or Big Chill. these aren't overly cool toned

these are BM, but are also pretty neutral grays

Here are some combos w/whites and light grays. grab some samples

Drift of Mist can take on a slightly cooler blue tone, but not as much as Olympus.

If you'd like a slightly warmer gray, try this combo. it would also look great w/black or SW Iron Ore

Thank you so much. Silvery gray is what I was hoping for so I’m glad you see it that way. Now I have to figure out what color to paint the pool deck??

That Covered in Platinum color you can see on the roof fascia. I thought my roof tiles were going to be darker or else I would have used the Wrought Iron color.

Anyway, you can see how its a silver gray color. I have it paired w/the gray roof decking and the darker charcoal colors. You could do gray decking like I have, or go for more contrast w/the charcoal. , Or, as you can see, the warm wood tones lend some warmth to all of the grays. I have natural redwood and cedar.

I like that a lot. I know I can't go dark on the pool decking so it doesn't get as hot.

This house is Olympus Gray and I love it. I asked the owner. I’ve decided to paint my new home Olympus Gray because I love this home. Looks light gray, white, little blue gray in different lights.
