Help me choose paint color for my kitchen
Comments (7)I'm Jan_in_Wisconsin, and I'm happy to know that my kitchen is liked by others. It was a challenge in putting it all together, for sure. I just wanted to say that the SW Flowerpot does look slightly more brickish red in real life. I agree with the other poster that since your cabinets, countertop, and backsplash are on the lighter side, that a deeper wall color might be more striking. Comments (20)Good tip, Benjesbride, thanks. The Thunderous is much darker (LRV of 7) and more olive than the ones we have thought about, so maybe it won't be as big of an issue. But I'll make sure to test how the colors look against sunsets. We don't really get that much light in the kitchen - there's a deck with a bunch of woordwork behind it and we're on a middle floor. Thanks, Sophie. Do you mean "matching" one brand of paint to another? We're not planning to do that (eg I'm not going to tell Scherrs to try to match a Farrow & Ball paint). I was just giving examples of other paints I'd liked to find SW colors to test. OR do you mean that the regular paint samples we'd get at SW will be very different than the factory high-solids conversion varnish that will be used to finish the doors? I'm sure that's true but I don't think there's any way around it. The material we use to test (I liked funkycamper's suggestion of foamboard, going to get some today at the dollar store) will also be different than how the paint will look on the wood and mdf. But if I understand you right, you're suggesting we test colors to come up with a couple finalists and then test on sample doors. It will still be standard interior satin finish, not the conversion varnish. I actually don't have any problem paying for the door or paint samples. I'm more concerned with the time it will take to get sample doors (Scherr's quoted 2-3 weeks to even get a sample door). In the meantime, I guess we'll try sample jugs from the SW store and paint over white foam board? Once again, I really appreciate the tips and color suggestions, yall!...See MoreHelp me choose paint color for my new kitchen
Comments (17)Here are photos of the rest of the house. I'm not proud of the quality of the images, but they get the point across, I hope. The front patio and front door: The Living Room, panorama showing all four walls: The Dining Room, panorama showing 3 walls. Detail of the Dining Room paint. The lower walls is Zolotone with pink, two shades of grey, and off white. The trim is painted pink and off-white. The blind on the right is the fourth wall of the dining room, not visible in prior image - a built-in bookcase full of photography books, hidden behind a blind to protect them from the UV rays. (Yikes, nothing like a closeup image to show how dirty and worn things are.) The Dining Room is connected to the Kitchen through a single door, with very little visual connection. Bathroom, 5x7 feet: Office #1, 10x10 feet, aka Library, aka Green Room. Panorama showing all four walls makes it very distorted, but gives a sense of what the room is like. Office #2, also 10x10 feet. The only hall: The old Kitchen, looking along the north wall to the west wall. (I can't wait until this kitchen is GONE!) The old kitchen south wall, photo taken from the doorway to the dining room. We have removed the window to the left of the fridge, as the little table at that window was dead space that we never used....See Moreplease help me choose a paint color for my kitchen, please!!!!
