Wait because the new floor and cabs in wood will play off each other. I’d get larger or stylish pewter or black hardware and live w the cabs for a while...

Please show photos of all four sides of the kitchen. We don't know if you have an open space to dining and family/living room. When taking on anything major, the entire space needs to be taken into consideration so it all works together--flooring, color choices, lighting, hardware, overall style.

If you do dark lowers, the white appliances will stick out even more. However white cabinets do not go with that granite. Personally i’d replace the appliances and leave the cabinets as they look good. Unless you have the cabinets professionally painted they will never look as good as the wood ones and to have them done professionally will cost around $5000

I agree. I’d start with the floor and wait until you can do more. The floor is a great choice. It goes with a lot. So hopefully won’t be an issue down the line...

What are the floors in the spaces next to this space? IMOthe colors you are looking at do not work with the floors and whay gray at all? I agree the appliances are more the dated look than the cabinets. I also agree to have those painted is going to be costly and I for sure need to see the whole kitchen too.

There is no harm in waiting to be sure choices and changes are complimentary. If considering changing appliances, that may be a good time to re-evaluate. Good luck.

Why do you think the kitchen is hideous? I don't think your cabinets are bad at all. They are a very nice, natural wood which goes with anything. I wouldn't want dark grey floors, but I suppose that's a personal preference. I'd keep the cabinets the way they are and replace the floors, but not grey.

With all due respect, I don’t see a problem with doing white uppers with your current granite ( as cpartist stated that they” do not go” ) . IMO, I think the white uppers will ,both make the appliances look more intentional , as well as temper the warmth of the countertop color. I am never a fan of the over use of either “all cool colors “ or “all warm colors”, but I do believe white goes with either. It is a mix of cool and warm that can make a space interesting, as well as take away , for example ,in your case , honey/gold/warm overload - which seems to be the direction in which you were going. I applaud you for choosing some interesting and less common saturated colors with which to paint your lower cabinetry ! Best of luck !

At least on my monitor, I love the navy color( on the far right ) with your granite. I think a navy and white combination for your cabinets would be stunning with your counters, which have flecks of the same blue.

In my opinion, your cabinets are lovely as they are and I like how they look with your new flooring selection.

I like the navy all the way to the right. Get a sample of SW Naval and Blue Endeavor also, we have both colors in our house and they are great colors.

If you're set on laminate, and it's purchased already(which it seems it is?)-I'd install it, and see how you feel about the kitchen then.

I like the current cabinets' stain, I'd want to make sure before I paint. It's several more days, all in all. Will give better idea of colors too.

I'd also love to see more of the layout (does the kitchen end where the fridge is?), and adjacent space-some kitchens lend themselves better to two tone look than others, and it'll be easier for us to see a bigger picture involved. Bigger picture-more sound advice. In my experience.

Always check future cabinet doors' colors vertical to the flooring, not on top of it..the light will hit it differently when they'll be installed, changing the color.

If decided to move away into gray/blue/white scheme..I'd go for deeper blue. Theoretically. I think white might be too stark, and will be harder to match with white appliances.

I know there is a question whether won't seem too dark-well it depends on how much light your kitchen gets. Or how much light can be added, if it doesn't get enough.

Stainless steel appliances would work nice-but knowing how everything is made nowadays, I'm also "it stays if it works" kind of a person, when comes to appliances. even if not my preferred color.

Again, personally would hold off painting for now, would appreciate seeing more pics.

And..I don't know whether my opinion matters, and for sure you didn't ask for it..but your kitchen is not hideous. It might not be someting you prefer, or choose youself, which I fully get..still, not hideous.

We have a local painter/contracted installing the flooring and doing the cabinet painting.

We are planning to do a total renovation and expansion of the kitchen in 3-5 years so are only looking for easy and inexpensive cosmetic fixes at this point. I personally dislike everything in the kitchen from the white appliances to the granite to the floor to the cabinet stain so I’m trying to adapt to more of my style.

The floor is enough if a total Reno is coming up. Gray floor runners and pewter hardware would have done it for me but stop after the new floor.

Thanks for the extra photos. If you're doing a temporary upgrade, then fix what's making your kitchen look off to you: The gray walls make the totally nice oak cabinets and floor color look all wrong. Paint all your walls a warm white throughout (though we still haven't seen dining and living room). Paint the top cabinets white, which will echo the appliances. Keep bottom cabinets in wood as shown below, keep the appliances white and floor the same. Save your money for a total renovation.

take a look at the rest of the house and how he used that color throughout the house. I saw this when it aired and loved it.

It seems that you may have a simlar dilemma that I just faced: flooring in an "open" area. I struggled with the choice of how to pair my oak floors in the LR with a step up and then continuous flooring in the open dining area and kitchen. I ultimately chose to run the hardwoord through the space.

But - I learned that floors are expensive! If you are going to full reno in 3-5 years, are you willing to pay for new flooring again? Chances are you would not keep the same footprint and would need to do new flooring. Can you just spruce up the kitchen and save for the reno instead of spending $$ on a product that you may rip out in 3-5?

That being said, here are some things that I have learned here:

1. Do what you love and what moves you. You live in your space, we don't.

2. "Reno in 3 to 5 years" can easily become 10.

3. Piece meal work - I learned the hard way that this does not work. Having a plan to make your space cohesive is key.
