So you have two matching oversized chairs with a matching ottoman and possibly a sofa???

The walls in the room are wood and that opening is to a hallway??

I don't get much chance to comment so I may not be a lot of use, but just to get started, I think you'll find that your advisors here will need a better idea of the size and shape of the room. More pics from other angles. At the moment the furniture positioning looks awkward, and we'd need more idea of the space you have to play with for that.

My other initial thoughts, curtains certainly . Can you change the carpet? It doesn't look ideal, colour wise, on my screen. Or you might consider a rug on top of it. You'll need a coffee table and/or side tables. I suspect both. Lamps on side tables would help make it feel cosy. Think art for the walls to bring life and personality to the space. You need to define a colour palette, I think, that includes the colour either of the existing carpet or a replacement; the stark black and white of the cushions look like they belong entirely to another room. That choice on its own could help you on the way to a palette that would work. There's a lot of inspiration to be had. With the wooden walls, I'd recommend an earthy or textured look, or nature reference:

@BeverlyFLADeziner yes the two oversized chairs one with ottoman. The sofa is in front of a large window. You can see half in the phone with the chairs. The other half is in the photo looking the other direction in the comments. The opening between the two chairs goes to a small hallway with the front door. the tile shown in the photos is the start of the kitchen.

If possible, I would remove the ceiling fan or maybe get a flush mount fan. Your ceiling looks like it's about 8 feet...? That fan tends to "lower" the ceiling.

Maybe this rough sketch of the space above will help. Both rooms are carpet. Kitchen and entry all way are tile. One day I would like to replace the flooring but it won’t be right now. I thought the other room should have a kitchen table but I am not set on that ideA.

You need to first move your furniture into a grouping as Beverly has shown you. Some of the furniture needs to float in the room so the pieces are connected. Then you need a floor lamp, and an end table with a lamp. I would also update the fan/light or replace it with just a light. Lighting is very important in a space. I can't see the window well, but you might consider a roman shade instead of drapes so you have more space for the furniture.

Get some "living" in there.... 2 or 3 chair side tables to put your cup or glass on and lamps to create some areas of light...a couple of big plants and maybe a smaller one or two.....and some color in the cushions. And I think every room needs a coffee table of some sort.
Curtains on windows are so "last year"...If you need window coverings I would go with blinds and perhaps a valance to hide the top.
I think with the cushy furniture, the paneled walls and the nice fireplace it has promise of being a very warm and homey space.
