Jim, I just cant see you diging up really old posts, going on and on about it, with out some type of goal. Exactley what are you trying to prove??? Go to my site, All the ipe projects have 116 on them. As you can see they are not Red or Redwood or anything close to that. Saying it is makes me Mad clear and simple. Now if you put 116 on say preasure treated,garapa or any light color wood then Yes its going to come out a different color than 116 on ipe. This is basic 101 wood finish. Any of the resin base twp products can be mixed together to come up with a different color. I have used combos like that when puting finish on Garapa and other woods. I put cedar tone natural on ipe one time because the Wallet asked for it the result was bad but I did what they wanted however for ipe its most always the 116. Ipe itself is not one color it ranges from almost black to a light tan 116 levals out the differances but the result is not Red. Any color chip you get from Any finish store is going to be different on another kind of wood other than the wood used on the chip you cant expect them to have samples of finish on every kind of product. Just get off it Man. Its up to the Customer to know if one finish is the right one for them. There is no way twp is showing product online / samples / or color chips that dont match up with what they sell. You might not agree with what they call it if so just pick another name for your self and call it that but it Defentley is what they say it is and what they say they sell is what they sell. We had our yard fenced when we moved in this January. It is made of pressure treated pine. Our HOA "requires" that it be stained by May 1 (even though you'll see that our neighbors that we adjoined to isn't stained or hasn't been in years). We do agree though that it would look better stained to tone it down a little as it really does stick out from the whole neighborhood aesthetic. Questions: 1. We are thinking a semi-transparent stain to provide a bit more longevity than transparent. Will we regret not seeing as much of the wood grain? 2. Should we stain only our new portions of the fence? Or ask permission from the neighbors to stain the side of their fences in our yard that we adjoined to? 3. Looking at the color "pewter" by Behr. This would be trying To match the aged fenced around us. Any experiences with their fence/deck stains?Other product suggestions? We would prefer to spray it instead of roll it, but could do either. 4. Feel free to give landscaping ideas on this yard. The ivy has to go, just don't know what I want to do instead since I'm not sure we will ever be able to have grass back there with so much shade.

I’m going to agree with Joseph on this one. You basically have two choices but both will require you to replace the screws. (Depending in the size of the screw that’s in there go with a stainless #8x2.5” trim head). I’d start by backing out a couple screws and hitting it with a sander to test how deep the staining goes. If it’s surface then you can replace the screws without flipping the boards and just give it a good sanding. Option 2) If staining is deep you can try flipping the board hoping there’s no staining on the underside and face screw the boards back down. Option 3) and one I would’ve recommended from the get go... Use a biscuit joiner like Joseph showed in the video and cut a slot in the side of the board while utilizing a product like the Eb-ty Precision Clips for Ipe which I believe are the best product in the hidden fastener market. Unfortunately though, if you go the hidden fastener route, now you’ll be looking at empty screw holes on the face of your boards. Whichever route you go, while certainly a bit of a hassle, the issue is pretty readily rectifiable. Part of the beauty of wood over composite decking. Worst case scenario sanding should solve the problem and you’re deck will look like brand new...

Love that SW raisin! The cedar on the siding stain and deck would look great as long as it is opaque enough to cover what it already in existence. The paint experts at your local SW store could recommend the right products. Good job!
