Help...my fireplace surround is ugly and I need to give it character.
Comments (9)HI -- There is two much texture and busy pattern with the brick going one way and the wood going another ...it's cluttered and dark looking . If the wood can be removed then do that and replace with drywall and or tile that in the same direction as the bricks , on the horizontal. I would paint that whole wall one color like the wall color . Then the texture speaks for itself . You say you don't want to spend too much so a live edge shelf/mantel would be very expensive . Comments (6)Curious as to why you used that dark wall color in the kitchen and adjoining room . You have nothing else that color anywhere in those pics. Get rid of the dark wall color. You need a color palette for all the rooms since the space is open. You don’t need to define the kitchen with color. We know it’s a kitchen. You are on the right track with wanting to paint the wood, I would do it the same color as the trim. It’s a fabulous space and your furniture is great, you just need a couple rugs and a new wall color to pull it all together....See MoreAbby Marshall
