Actually, the link is correct. That's the right picture. I did try to contact the designer via Houzz but she was not commenting back. I then tried her website, but it was under construction. So when all else fails, pick up the phone and call the designer :) Thankfully she is in my area and directed me to the store where the tile was purchased. She told me it was a 1/2" x 1" gray stone. She didn't have the exact name, but with the help of the gal at the showroom, I think we found it. It has both the grays and the tans I'm looking for, has the classic but casual feel and goes with all the "potentials" for my kitchen choices. It is called Nova Blue by the Quarry Collection. Here is a picture with my floor and two of the counters I am considering Caesarstone Pebble (L) and Caesarstone Shitake (R). It also looks good with Mocca Juperana (granite) and so many other options! What do you think? (my "inspiration" pic is linked in my original post)

I know you said that you aren't changing the carpet, but might you consider it? Only because, I'm assuming that is a gas fireplace, there is no need for a large tile area in front. You can go for a narrow hearth or no hearth. If you wanted to do that, unless you have a large scrap or can match it, you're stuck with the large hearth. I like the idea of doing built-ins. As they would be asymmetrical anyway due to window placement, you may just want to build in on the right to accommodate TV and components and leave the left side as is. Not that I'm suggesting this style, but just to illustrate a tv next to fireplace built in, one side only. Something like this might work for you, but without the overmantel. Note that this tile surround is very similar to your hearth tile. If you like that look, you could get more tile, perhaps and then tie it together that way. Regarding your image with a tv above your linear fireplace...I have a 48" linear and it puts out so much heat after warming up for 15-20 min. Does yours have the heat release by the ceiling? If not, be careful, especially since your whole area will be covered in soapstone. "For centuries, soapstone has been known for its ability to retain heat. Other natural stones, such as granite and marble, also hold and radiate heat, but only soapstone has the added benefit of being able to withstand direct flames indefinitely". I have a hollow metal mantel between my fp and the tv. It blocks the heat efficiently. Cool design, just worried about the future of your tv. And...I love the antique cabinets.

Generally, the tile replacement is done prior to the insert being installed, so that it all fits together properly, and the correct fire codes are followed. You will need to uninstall the insert to do the demo of the tile, and then retile. I would not recommend a formal white marble tile around a rustic insert of that type. The more formal mantel also is not in keeping with the casual spirit of the insert look.
