xantippe, it's no longer a double door house..that is our oddball window, and the one that concerns me about accenting the window trim. It doesn't have the wide trim around it that the other windows have, it's also longer than the other windows. I've thought about gray, but I was thinking that I wanted a change..since the white already looks gray :) I love deeper colors on houses (and not just because of road grim..something about them just has always appealed to me) Bulldinkie, living in Pa is so wonderful for driving around looking at all of the old houses. It's always been our dream to own one, and now here we are...living in our very own money pit..lol! kindred ny, we have tossed around the idea of extending the porch..I love the idea! We'll have to see what the budget dictates when we get to that part of the renovation. One thing is for sure though...I HATE the hip roof on the porch...so whether we extend or not, the porch redo will have a shed style roof and not a hip roof! Since I took the pictures last week, I painted the front door and front storm door red...it does a bit to perk up the front but mostly it just makes the rest of the paint on the house and porch look sadder :) How stupid would it look if I painted the trim around the windows and the oddball window didn't have the same treatment? Any ideas on what I could do to camouflage ...or should I perhaps just accept it as part of the quirkiness of the house?

Thank you so much for the information. I enjoyed the browse! Earlier in the day, after work, I went out and bought a quart of Dunn-Edwards Navajo White, which has a green tinge. Now I think I'm warming up to stepping it up a notch after seeing those pictures. Part of my problem is I have the pretty blues and greens in my nearby living room that would look so pretty with some of the yellow/olive like hues of green. But beyond my kitchen (and visible) is a step down area and den that are a green grey, which unfortunately doesn't look great with the maple, otherwise I'd just carry it on up. I wish the yellow that was on the wall worked, but I don't think it looks good with my silestone. I do like how it looks with the maple though. Here is a picture. I'm hoping a darker green might do the trick to work with both areas. I have spent so much $$ on paint samples that it is embarrasing! :-) Here is a link that might be useful:

I popped the lid off the gallon of Ben Moore's Dry Sage and poured it out into my paint tray, back in March(?). I had spent about 3 fruitless weeks splotching, sampling, and painting on my lunch hour while wearing dress clothes. Insane. I HAD to paint that entry and get my new antique sideboard in it's spot. Finally, I just went with a suggestion here (Patricia) and threw myself in with a whole gallon--no sample first---of the Dry Sage. Well..........I refused to even look at the color in the paint tray. It was Saturday morning and I was gonna paint. If I didn't love it, then, we would cross that bridge down the road. As it went on the wall, I thought it was pretty dark---really, much darker than I thought it would be. Oh well..........serves me right for not going with Pigeon. Or French Grey. Or one of two dozen other shades I bought in sample sizes that were all.... ...Too Brown ...Too Drab ...Too Green ...Too Grey ...Too Blue (Yuck...no blue please!) ...Too Light ...Too Dark (RH Flax was strong contender. Beautiful.) ...Too Cool ...Too much like every other color I already have! Anyway......it was looking pretty dark. I did not want a dark color for the entry, I wanted something similar in depth to the Baby Turtle in the LR or the Northampton Putty in the Dining Room. It was also green. **Sigh** I can't get away from green. Tried to go brown. Tried to go grey. Whatever. But a funny thing happened on the way to the forum.......Decorating Forum that is! As it dried, it turned sage*grey*blue something different. Something that was exactly like the something that I had in my head. Something that looked.....in my entry....very very close to the color that French Grey (like Allison's Laundry and Kitchen) look online. But the sample card of French Grey, made up into a sample quart, did not look quite right. And it's a funny, funny, thing about color. We think we WANT---THAT color! The color SHE has. Or the Color in the House Beautiful article. The color in the Pottery Barn catalog with the lovely furniture. But a lot of the time, THAT color, I mean, THAT actual color....the one that's named on the chip---is NOT the color you want. The color you want is the color that color looks like in someone Else's house. So you have to look for your color. Then you have to paint it. That's an act of courage and absolute bravery. Then, it has to dry. Because Drying, as well as adding back furniture, art, plants, and rugs, is what really creates your color. Walkin', we need to see the room. You know that. I tried to post a picture, but am having trouble with a few things. First of all, my photo skills are lacking and the true colors of the current wall color and the sample of Wheeling Neutral are just not showing up they way they appear IRL. The current wall color is much more yellow. In my picture, the two colors look quite similar, when they really aren't at all. The other problem is the size of the picture. I inserted the picture by dragging and dropping from my pictures library and the picture is huge. Do I need to resize before I insert a photo? This is my first attempt at including a photo since the change over to Houzz. Then, of course, there's that whole thing with my photos becoming 'property' of Houzz. I have been comparing my samples of Lenox Tan and Wheeling Neutral and I think I've figured out what didn't work with the Lenox Tan in our BR with the bedding I'm going to use. Altho I do like the richness of LT, the color needs to be grayer and I think I've achieved that with the WN. Could I go darker? I suppose the answer would be yes, but then the color is just about matching the grayed brown in the pillow sham and that's not necessarily my goal. The colors should just blend, right? I want a nice background color that works with the overall color scheme.
