Comments (4)Since the fridg. will be sitting where the pantry is now, it won't totally block the dining room door even when the fridg. door is open. I don't like the look of the fridg. where its. Plus the pantry is very functional for me. Its hard to find items and I do keep my pantry stocked. I saw a pic of someone on this forum that has pull out pantry and I just love it. It would be great to have one for can items and the other for staples and packages. Plus I was also going to have a coffee center. I think I would love the look as a complete look with almost floor to ceiling cabinets on each side of the coffee center. What are your thoughts on this?...See MoreIs a corner pantry possible for this tiny kitchen?
Comments (8)A wide closet-style pantry would be a good option. But you need to do it right. A few random thoughts: * Consider other things to put in the pantry. I keep my stand mixer, blender, food processor and the like on the lower shelves. It's much easier to get them out of the pantry than it was to get them out of a base cabinet. * Don't forget the floor space. This area is good for things like cases of bottled water, beer, sodas, etc. Maybe even a rolling step stool. * For a shallow pantry, make the back shelves narrow and the side shelves deeper. That way you can get to the top of the shelves. FWIW, I keep lightweight stuff on the top shelves. It doesn't hurt so much when it falls on my head. Personally, I'd go with a regular door rather than a bifold door. A bifold does take up a lot of room when it's open. Just make sure you have plenty of counter top space for a landing zone on the latch side. You may want to get some grid paper and start sketching a few ideas. Whatever you do will be limited by the location of the window. Best of luck....See MoreDesign advice for eat-in kitchen? Corner pantry?
Comments (8)Thanks @Patricia Colwell. I also like galley kitchens, but had to change the layout to get rid of a homemade lift and a few other complications! (And am on the fence about eat-in too, but again – small space and tricky existing features). Because of the higher ceiling, we were going to run the extractor fan out to the side of the house, above the top cupboards. And thanks heaps @mama goose_gw zn6OH. I love your first suggestion and have tried to draw it up below. The second one is also very clean and would probably feel very spacious, but possibly not enough prep space. Love the idea of an appliance garage or hidden spot! Any suggestions for the upper cabinets on both sides – running them around to meet the oven tower on one side, and then to the window on the other? Would it be worth making some of them open for variation or storing cookbooks? (e.g. above fridge). Or mix up colours of some elements?...See Moreemilyam819
