Paint Design Dilemma Exterior

Not liking my new exterior paint color. What to do?

My house is in the process of being painted and I’m not liking the color! I spent so much time looking at colors and am so upset with how it’s looking. I was wanting a blue/gray, but it’s looking very blue and too dark! I may ask the painters to stop and pick another color. Thoughts?

If you don’t like it. You should change it.
Personally I probably would have went white. Or brown gray. But it’s not horrible. I’ve seen worse.

I don’t think it looks bad at all, it’s kinda nice to see something other than gray everywhere. What does it look like when it’s in the sun -your pic is shaded making it even darker.

Do you have inspiration pics if what you were originally going for?

It's a Tudor with a turret. It's always going to be a Tudor with a turret. Do not paint the stone. This below is the whitest color scheme I have seen for a Tudor. I would definitely keep the black windows. They are perfect with your house. I would keep your color current scheme and invest is some complementary landscaping like you see below. Your lot is really lacking & 86 the globe balls lamp post. The property could look much better with landscape lighting.

Since repainting is not in the budget, work with what you can. The shutters would be better not there, or if you want to keep them, white. So frustrating when colors don’t end up the way you thought/planned-more so when it’s such a large/expensive area, too. I very much want to kick those shrubs, so really hope you take them out. Someone I’m quite sure can come up with some pretty plants/flowers to put there instead. Yellow is my favorite color, and I like the color of the door, but I do agree about changing it to orange. Patricia‘s MCM idea is lovely, if you can swing the wood. As far as repainting the entire house again bc you’re selling..I like blue, but if I bought it, I would probably repaint anyway, unless it was specifically what I wanted—let the buyers down the road decide. So I think it a wise thing to not mess with repainting again.

@calidesign thank you for your input as well. I missed your comment yesterday but have been in dialogue with a lot of people (including a real estate agent friend of mine) and they pointed out that the brown roof changes the game. Most people suggested that I stick with the original color of the house (tan) or go with a cream so I found another color palette that had tan, cream and the rust/clay colors in it. I'm going to trim the house in the original tan color and attempt to paint the shaded area under the front door cream because I hate how it looks boring with the current tan color scheme. Also, my sister picked the color of blue (which you and several others suggested to add color). Also, going to have a new garage door installed and my sister suggested trying to trim the front door in the same color as the garage. End result posted above, let me know what you think.

I usually start with a single door with no sidelights and the amount of glass in the door that reflects the amount of privacy desire in the room the door opens into. I know this is off topic, but I see the arched shutters on the rectangular window, and the shutters on the tall window as both looking odd. I would hope the design decisions made on this front elevation are the same on all the other elevations

On my screen it looks more blue/gray and a good mix with what appears to be a gray roof...? One issue for me is the white wall of garage that pulls the most focus. You could have it painted the siding color. The focus needs to be more at the front door/entry area. Just wondering if the garage door was the blue and the columns were white. Just saying I would want the focus OFF the garage door.

I like it too. Blue/gray sounds a bit dull, but this color is pretty.

I have see much brighter blues. I’m sorry it’s not quite what you expected.

Know this . .....the average passerby will give your house a glance, and move on.

I mean this in a good way.

I am assuming that you chose this from a chip. Unless you actually see a color on an actual home, it’s difficult to choose from paint samples or photos.

What color would you change it to, and how will you know that it won’t disappoint you like this one did?I

I like it! Darker house colors seem to be gaining popularity and are so much more interesting than grey or beige. Paint your garage door the same color as the house and choose a pop of color for the front door.

I like it! It's a welcome relief from all of the beige/golden/yellow houses I've seen in what I am assuming is the Florida area. I bet you'll receive lots of compliments.

I like it very much. It looks very nice and it is a welcome relief to see a house that actually has some color and interest. Could it be, that it is just a big change, for you, and you just need to get used to it? Personally, I would keep it. It looks great.

The crisp contrast with the white is nice..striking...i would try painting the columns white to balance it out little...before making a big change...it gives your home a more distinctive feel than the more understated pale gray
