need advice on my choice on Pewter Green cabinet color
I need your advice please. I love the look of white oak they will have clear dead flat finish..the floors will be white oak too. As you see I chose black leather counters the island has white quartz. My appliance will be white Cafe brand. My vent hood will have a stucco top on to the wood base that will be painted white. Back splash will be mat white 2x8 tiles. My question is I want to paint the island and all of the cabinets Pewter Green except the white oak cabinets. Please give me your thoughts and before paint. Would that work? Or is it to many changes? Thank you

Comments (17)Thanks for the replies...I love this forum. Great humor, too, just when I needed it. This morning we talked and had an enlightenment. I had to do some pretty slick talking. Husband just came in and saw me on the forum...he reads/enjoys it, too, and said, "Well, are you going to tell them you're finally getting your way?" In reality, our cabinets are contractor grade, cheap cabinets which are about 17 years old. Some of the doors have warped. Husband had actually purchased 3 additional oak cabinets and tried to match the doors, etc, as best he could, but they don't match. We would have used them in this galley kitchen...2 rows of cabinets parallel to each other...and not matching at that. And, even painted, they still wouldn't match. We were going to top them off with expensive granite. We decided it just didn't make sense to do that....we don't plan on moving any time soon, but, still, I don't think it would add to the value of our home. So. We are going stretch a little and replace those cabinets with ones we love. We found some Kraftmaid cherry cabinets in a shaker style we really like with a nutmeg or ginger glaze (still contemplating which one) and it won't break the bank. Now we are back to the countertops...we're going to worry about those first, and finally the flooring. Back to the granite search next. It's been a long day....but the sun was shining in Indiana... I'm turning 60 this month! We decided this would be a gift to us...(he will be 60 next year) a nice, new kitchen we both love. Comments (7)Such a nice, bright space. I like the sage green on the one wall you show, but I wonder if it will be too much green if it was painted on all the walls. You have a lot of nice woods in the room and it would be nice to keep with the wood tone of the bar and adjacent console. It doesn't have to match, but by keeping it in the same family, I think it will be more cohesive than introducing painted cabinetry. You might be able to achieve cohesiveness with painted cabinetry if you mimicked painted wood pieces in the sofa area. I'm not a pro, so not sure, just my opinion. Good luck. Comments (20)It is sort of unclear to me exactly what kind of window you are considering ...but I do know that the window in the kitchen is the most important one in the house....I wouldn’t want one of those (little square)divided ones for sure...and I would look for an option that does not have a divider right in the middle of the view from the sink...couple of reasons...this is the only window you look out of ... from about 2’ away...often during the day...secondly it will be most obvious when it is dirty or water splattered...so easy access ...for in and out cleaning ...is essential....if necessary even widening the window to allow a solid center glass with two small side sliders...would be preferable......See MoreHELP, in need paint color advice. thinking a green, copper gutters? Comments (18)garage door with something like this, will have a big impact. some added accessories. i love the copper idea. as for doing a sage green against the stone, I think it's the wrong pick. I'd prob go with an iron ore color for all of the trim work, or urbane bronze. these two would be nice Do the white around the wood garage door, copper lights, and the dark color for all of the fascia. Or if doing a really dark roof, switch the colors. I stick w/these color options and forget the green. or, any combo of these would work w/the stone Or, I did compile a bunch of other sage tones you might like...See Morelucky998877

3 years agolast modified: 3 years agoI would stick with white on the painted cabinets, and add the green into your backsplash tile in stead (it works with both white and light wood). Much easier to change one day if you get tired of too many different finishes....and I loooove green, I have a green kitchen. White was your original plan, right?

3 years ago@Teri Lowber-White don't regret your choices, I agree with @megs1030 They will be so pretty.
I love the idea of mixing surfaces and cabinets colors. Are you working with a KD? Are you working with a cabinet designer? Maybe they could give you some insight. If you are not that is okay too. Don't toss in your ideas because it has not been done before.
I think if you love green you could incorporate the color. If you have a vision think about it and go for it. Do you want white cabinets? I love the images you showed. Your kitchen is going to be great!

Consider using same counter as on island and white may also help tie in the white appliances. Imagine below with stained uppers, green island and white appliances. Patchy? Petwer Green is a lovely color though
See below to get a feel of using all white counters. The bleached floor will compliment/tie in uppers and I think will be lovely. Hope these images helped. Good luck.

3 years agoI think you should go for it! It will take your kitchen up a notch, and I think it's easier to paint cabinets than change out backsplash down the road if you want a change. I could be wrong on that though.
