Fireplace dilemma-paint interior ? Mid Century Modern

My house is FLW usonian style house with a very large fireplace. We do not use it as previous owner installed a stove (in pic to the right) which is far more efficient and easier to clean. I currently have candles in the box which I light (creates a nice ambience) I would like to paint the interior or do something decorative - would love some suggestions!! Paint same color as my walls? Tile?

Odd place for wood stove it would not pass code where I live too close to an entry space . IMO I would close that whole FP wall up then you would have a nice plain wall to do whatever you want with. I think to have a FP beside a wood stove is just plain weird . Waht exactly do you want to paint the interior of? Can you post some pics of the rest of the space BTW not a very large FP Or get a gas insert for the FP and get rid of the wood staove which IMO would be more true to the style of the house.

Thank you @Patricia Colwell Consulting the fireplace is quite large- 75 " w 41" tall (opening) . We are on oil so I cant do gas and the house is concrete slab/radiant floors with concrete block walls so not sure how we would get a propane line to it - i agree the stove is odd (but very functional in NJ winters) . The fireplace is not efficient and crazy difficult to clean out.

I am trying to figure out if i move the stove to inside the fireplace, eliminate the fireplace and put in some nice built ins, paint the inside the same color as the wall and do the candle set up

I dont want to lose the MCM/FLW charm

The TV is a samsung frame so we can change the art

couches across from fireplace are 91 each so it a large room

Thanks for all the suggestions. Off-white with a bright colored, mid century door was the direction I was leaning, so it sounds like I’m on the right track, @emmarene9, I think the small plants are boxwoods, but I am going to pull those out along with the stones and redo that bed with some more mid-century appropriate, Texas native landscaping - maybe grasses or succulents. And here’s a close up of the iron scrolling that you asked for (dirty and coated in that ugly green paint, but in good shape otherwise).

Shiplap ceiling with beams can provide some interest especially if you have a lot of windows. I'm not sure about plantation shutters. But it is modern to have a consistent covering. I think walnut and painted cabinets would look great.

Browns and beiges are devlishly difficult to do well. And even harder for us who are interpreting these colours on our screens. On my screen your roof is not at all orange-brown. I took a shot of it your roof, enlarged it and this is what I see. A pinkish brown that is pretty close to the rosy brown shown below it. The darker colours are a burgundy brown or wine brown. The blue beside it is the complementary colour to pinkish brown - opposite on the colour wheel. On my screen and to my eye, this looks better than an orange door. Even the bit of orange on the pavement at the bottom of your picture seems to clash with the roof. The blue could be lighter or darker or less saturated, but stay in the same general level of blueness vs going more green-blue or more purple-blue. https://www.color-name.com/rosy-brown.color https://www.farrow-ball.com/en-us/colour-by-nature/deep-reddish-brown You could do worse than get a professional colour consultant on this. Whatever you choose, I'd paint some big sample boards and look at it in different lights before you pick up the paint brush.
