Princess White quartzite slab - what do you think?
Comments (22)Ugh!! It is REALLY annoying when stone yards mislabel stones!!! Just be honest and let us decide if we want to deal with the consequences. There are plenty of people out there that know nothing about etching, staining, and would never think or know to test it. Therefore, there would still be plenty of potential buyers out there. I had the same dilemma when I was shopping but with Superwhite. Most stone yards were labeling it as a quartzite or granite and every single sample I brought home etched and stained. One stone yard was up front and had warning labels on all of their stones that were marble or anything that could stain or etch more than your average granite. Keep looking...you will find a great alternative!...See MoreSuper White and similar quartzite owners - backsplash?
Comments (3)I found a kitchen with Super White quartzite counters and a non-white subway backsplash at houzz.com [traditional kitchen design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-kitchen-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_709~s_2107) by grand rapids architect Visbeen Associates, Inc. Same kitchen, farther away, [traditional kitchen design[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-kitchen-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_709~s_2107) by grand rapids architect Visbeen Associates, Inc. chococake (love your screen name), the tile likely is a glazed ceramic but you could do a glass tile in a similar color. Or are you not wanting to do subways? So far, this is the only kitchen I've found at houzz.com that shows SWQ with something other than white or marble subway tiles. I can't believe those are the only choices....See MoreGorgeous White Quartzite Slabs in PA.
Comments (13)Those are indeed stunning slabs of stone. However are you sure of the name? In september I found a stone at a yard in Allentown PA. The woman said it was White Arabescato. It too was stunning very similar to these slabs. I brought home a sample about 8"X12" It is SO brittle, chips off and scratches worse than the soapstone sample. It has what looks like crystal pieces in it in the veins. But was really pretty but oh so fragile. The woman didnt know what stone it was when I asked if it was quartzite. She said its just arabescato- which was written on it. I know names change from one place to another. I may have to drive down tomorrow and get a sample. Really have to pick before I settle on the cab color...See MoreHelp with quartzite slab identification - Karin_mt?
Comments (5)Not sure if this helps but we installed a quartzite in our kitchen and love it. Zero maintenance so far(year ago). We did have the installer seal it and I think it’s supposed to last at least 10 years if I am remembering correctly. I actually feel like it was a 25 year sealer but I don’t trust my memory. I cannot remember the name. It was an additional $180 I think. No etching or staining at all and I do not have to be careful with it like I did a honed marble in our last house. I couldn’t test it either but did smear an oily hand moisturizer on the slab at the warehouse to make sure it wasn’t porus. It was not. I love my slab and would 100% buy it again. I think with the quartzite the more white they are the more they may have a certain mineral that can etch. Mine is a creamier white base and I can literally leave lemon juice, red wine etc on it and it doesn’t leave a trace of a mark. Good luck!...See MoreKelley Harrison Siepker
