White Princess Quartzite, Where oh Where?
Comments (11)Hi All, well I have had a little bit of luck. I have found it in LA, just not large enough. It is actually the Super White, they call is Winter cloud. It is very nice. The guy there is getting another shipment in a couple of months so he is going to try and see if he can get the size I need 125x70, we are going with 2 inch edge. He also told me about a product call Tuff Skin. It is a coating for Marble that protects it from etching and staining. The co is out of Las Vegas and has done a bunch of bars there like The Onyx Bar, I guess this stuff really works. He said the only thing is you cannot put Hot Pots or Pans on it, other than that, squirt lemons on it and it will not etch. I do not know the cost, there are dealers nationwide. It is put on by them. Thought I would share. My 4 steel beams were delivered today. Let the fun begin....See Morestone yard sold my slab-iso of princess white
Comments (18)After re-reading...yes, your fabricator is at fault too if they did not give any $ to the stone yard to hold it or have it delivered sooner and hold it for you at their shop. You might want to find another fabricator as well, unless they really make amends and go out of their way. Another word of caution we learned the hard way....if there is any leftover stone you may want to use in a powder room, etc....keep it in your garage! Our fabricator sold our remnant from the kitchen we were planning to use in the powder room. They came out, measured, everything...about 2 hours before I was going to OK the template..they called that they couldnt find it..even though they had previously said they had it. Fortunately we found a remnant at another fabricator's, which was sheer luck because I don't think it is a common stone....See MoreDurability of Princess White Quartzite
Comments (100)Sandy - hello! I’m so nervous as I’m about to apply the more anti etch to my beautiful piece of book matched panda marble on a an 11 foot island. Thank you for sharing as your post has given me more piece of mind! I’ve always lived on my Italian honed marble countertops and enjoyed the patina; however this new home build / project, I wanted a modern design and this panda does the trick. I’ve never used panda and do not know how it holds up plus I don’t want the patina look unless I just have to - hence I’m jumping in and trying MORE. My applicator just sanded it down on Friday and let me know today that the shipment of sealer has not arrived yet. Oops. So here I am surfing for more reviews to make sure it’s what we want to do. I can easily have her hone it at this point since she has sanded off the polish. The panda has crystals and sparkles and this will be toned down I think with the MORE product; however I think it’s worth it as the design is so elaborate, and we will be able to enjoy it and live life on it. Questions for you due to some negative reviews: scratching. I’ve read some reviews that it scratches easily. My applicator says it scratches the same as marble. What is your experience with this? Do you feel it scratches more than normal or what is to be expected ? someone said theirs turned yellow. How long have you had yours ? My applicator said it can turn yellow but only if in direct sunlight all day. She is not at all worried about this for my kitchen Honed - I don’t like the high shine and look forward to seeing the honed finish as a starting point at polish time. Glad you like the finished look of MORE honed. do you still like to touch the countertop even with the MORE on it? I love tapping my fingernails on the marble and hope it still has the stone feel. Does it ? mine is a waterfall and my last concern is where the two areas meet - the sides will not be treated with MORE of course. She said it will look fine. my applicator said the near thing about MORE is that it follows the lines of the veins and fits and molds to the stone. Your post has made me feel so much better! Please comment on my concerns if you see this. I haven’t found many reviews on MORE and have been a bit nervous. Im sure many who love it probably don’t say anything. The positive is not often discussed - only the negative. Thank you ! Stephanie...See MorePaint help! BM White Dove with my Princess White quartzite not working
Comments (3)Well that's exactly the reason on why it's so hard to give general advice on colors Revere Pewter for example is a lovely color that is highly praised, yet in my place looked like wet cement or something. I bet so much depends on a particular house in a particular geographical location too. That's why I dislike when people from, say, Vancouver say what's "timeless" to everybody whether they're living in Vancouver too, or maybe Arizona, or Florida That's why also every trend here gets bashed so, IMHO..because people pick it up and go with it(homeowners or builders) regardless whether it works in the first place..then it's everywhere whether it makes sense there or not much..then of course there's over-saturation of sorts, and folks start hating it. When nobody frankly put the gun to their head in the first place making them go with X or install Y. well I guess when it's put everywhere then it's not like you have big big choice either and at some point builders start putting whatever the trend everywhere, sometimes tastefully, sometimes ..lets say not so much That was off topic of course, for which I apologize:) As for the paints..might be a matter of many things. Say all mine are Dunn Edwards..and I had no idea such company exists at all, they don't have stores on the East Coast. Then when we remodeled the GC highly preferred for us to go with Dunn Edwards since he had an account with them, and they're very popular here. I could insist on other paint but would cost more..Dunn Edwards is considered pretty good..so ok, had to study Dunn Edwards. When I frankly would go with Benjamin Moore just because I know their colors a tad better. with Dunn Edwards had no idea where to start even the amount of samples I had to go through..can't decide whether it's funny or awfully funny lol (my white to go for trim is Swiss Coffee..luckily Behr has it, Dunn Edwards has it, I think Benjamin Moore has it..and they're pretty much Swiss Coffee all of them, so at least that..)...See Morejett254
