Need help with roof color, siding and trim color and window trim updat
Comments (5)The window trim change would be to Craftsman style. Unless you are doing the work yourself it seems a lot of expense for little difference on upstairs windows. It would, however, be extremely easy to do on your front door as you would only need to change the top board. And you could replace the side lights with solid wood inserts, or you could use textured glass that would obscure the view while still letting light in. While the limestone exterior is very light it has a yellow hue. Simply speaking the easiest way to find colors that work with the warm limestone is to choose a nearby color. That was probably why the trim is green. Since you prefer a modern look, I suggest you keep your siding light and use color only in the trim. Below are two combinations that I like. I darkened the roof color in these pictures....See MoreHelp with picking exterior colors - roof, siding, shutters
Comments (13)We had a hailstorm last year and had to have our roof replaced. Where we live several houses were having their roofs replaced and our HOA calls for you to have the color “weathered wood”. We started noticing lots of roofs being replaced and the newer shingles are very speckled looking! a house that has a lot of variation in the brick can really look a little crazy if the roof is speckled also. I would just be really careful picking what looks like architectural shingles using sample pictures. If you call the roofing supplier or your roofer they should be able to give you addresses of the colors of shingles you’re interested in so you could actually drive to by that home and see the shingles on an actual home. We found it very helpful and the color “weather wood” is very different looking across different brands of roofing. We chose Malarkey brand their Legacy line in “Weathered Wood” color upgrading to the class 4 impact resistant shingles. you also might check with your insurance company because we paid a little extra to get the class 4 impact resistant shingle and we get a discount on our insurance. Comments (11)I never like black and navy together so white windows and the bonus is they cost less.Good call on the shutter removal and IMO a much nicer front door in a color would be good.Of course the landscaping and right now until you decide to do a porch all across the front I would do window boxes on the lower windows , you should probably get a mock up of how the windows will handle wider trim since the top can’t have that done and BTW make sure all the windows are the same and if you want a bit more modern look forget the grids. You could still decide a lighter color for the siding and then the black windows it will then have more of a modern farmhouse loo...See MoreExterior - roof, windows, siding, trim
Comments (3)Thank you both! I’m not sure if the hip roof is in the budget, but i agree it would soften it, make it not stick out so much. An arbor may be more affordable but i think i would need to add a matching arbor somewhere else maybe over the window left of the porch to balance it. Yea, once the tree grows taller it will be ok but right now it blocks the entry. Thanks again for your input!...See MoreIsaac
