Whatever you choose, make sure that it can be serviced easily (and well) in your area. It seems every mid- level has success and horror stories on this board, but you already know that.

Well, seeing that nobody has responded, I'll chime in and maybe that will attract some further responses. Basically, if you are looking for pro-style gas ranges priced below $2400, I can't say that I know of any better current deals. Maybe you could score on an eBay auction if you don't mind gambling? If this is not an "I need a stove pdq" situation, there are the $200-off sales that Costco occasionally runs on the NXRs. That would take the price down to $1799 on the 30" NXR. The timing of these sales is unpredictable, though. Also, depending on your Costco membership level and whether you use a Costco Amex card, there could be year-end rebates of up to 5%. Have you actually seen the DCS? How dinged and dented is it? What do you know about the vendor and what kinds of guarantees would you be getting? Depending on the situation, a ding-n-dent can be a great deal or somebody unloading a disaster. You say your brother has an NXR. If you can try out his stove, that will likely tell you a lot about whether getting one would be a good enough deal for you. Besides that, I'm assuming that you already have been through the NXR discussions here and seen the pros and cons discussed. Thanks for the suggestions. hvtech42: There is not a lot of pro ranges that I can find that are under $3000. I've seen the NXR online only and read mixed reviews about it. Can you recommend any other others? Joe: I've seen the Bertazzonn and it's a nice range. The free hood helps since I'll need one too. Too many decisions when remodeling a kitchen. Still need to decide on counters, back splash, hardware and flooring. I already have a Kitchenaid fridge which is a couple of years old that I'll be using that replaced a Montgomery Wards one. Probably will go with a Bosch or Miele dishwasher. I like some of the American brands , but depth is an issue because of the inset cabinets. Keep the suggestions coming.
