Going from a 30' gas range to a 36' range, will I love it?
Comments (9)I haven't cleaned the insides often (had the range swapped out because of the burner issues, so haven't had one long enough to get the inside too dirty). Yes, it is a PITA to do (the downside of no self-clean, but the alternative would be having the range pump out tremendous amounts of heat for many hours). I always had to clean my oven door manually on my old self-clean range anyway, and had to wipe out the ashes left behind after self-clean, so it''s not as though I had a free ride before! For the top, once you get the hang of it, cleaning goes pretty quickly (I don't clean the actual burner rings themselves BTW, don't see a need unless there's been a messy spillover--they're burners after all--not suppposed to look pristine and unused!). For spot cleaning or jsut wiping down the burner pans, I have found that Perfect Kitchen spray (from BB&B) was a good recommendation from the people at the SZ/Wolf showroom. Depending on the am't of mess, I'll spray the burner pans or spray a paper towel and wipe. For baked on crud or more extensive cleaning, spray with Dawn Power Dissolver spray gel, let sit (how long depends on how burnt on the mess or how much time you want to wait), and then "scrub" in the sink with a blue scrub sponge (ours usually has some Palmolive dish soap on it already), rinse, and dry. I use a dish towel to dry the pans. If I notice any smudges or finger prints after popping the pans back onto the range, I might give a quick buff with a dry microfiber cloth. The grates get a quick scrub in the sink with a soapy blue scrub sponge if I'm going to be cleaning the drip pans as well, not if I'm just spraying and wiping them. I do those first, then lay them upside down on a sheet of paper towel on the counter. They're pretty much dry by the time I've replaced the burner pans. I'll just blot up any remaining water/wet spots with a towel/microfiber/or paper towel and we're good to go!...See MoreRecommended gas range for 1933 bungalow kitchen
Comments (0)We live in a great little bungalow built in 33' and I feel our range should have a classic look vs the modern lines of the grates on the Samsung and Whirlpool ranges. We have a stainless whirlpool french door refrigerator and dishwasher that we love. My dream is a 30" Bertazonni Pro in white enamel with stainless but with a baby on the way our money is going to more important things. We have high quality 42" wood cabinets painted a butter yellow color with black granite counter tops and nicely aged solid oak floors. The cabinets may be painted white in the next few years and counter tops changes for a different granite. Currently we have a 30" Frigidaire electric range but are plumbed for gas and I have always wanted a gas range. I would like to spend around $1000-1500 and want stainless since our fridge and dishwasher are stainless. We have an OTR microwave and will replace it to match new range. Thoughts on something reliable with a decent look and not totally cheap?...See MoreIs there a high-end, white 30' Gas Range?

Comments (12)Every brand can have lemons. So, it's hard to find something that doesn't have any bad reviews. Personally, I am extremely happy with our now 10 year old Bluestar RNB. Would absolutely buy it again. It has been working beautifully all these years. And what little maintenance it has needed was all something that I could easily do myself. But you are correct, there are people who have had much worse luck. I suspect, in most of these cases it was a problem with poor installation. This does appear to be one of those appliances that actually need about 15min of adjustment when they are first installed. Fail to do that, and things might not work well. Bluestar used to have "white glove" service that went through this checklist after installation was complete. I wish they still did that. So, my advice would be to find a qualified local appliance store that does their own delivery, installation and service. You might have to call around for a little bit to find that....See Morearies61
