would it be possible to take the kind of wine glass racks where you turn the glasses upside down and slip the stems into a track so you could pull those racks in and out of your deep space like a long drawer?

Are you planning on an espresso machine? Will you also be storing liquor to make cocktails there?

For a coffee bar, you need coffee, filters, cups, sugar bowl....you need a cabinet with adjustable shelves for maximum storage. I have four shelves spaced to accommodate the items I need in my coffee bar. My cups only need 5” of height, so two shelves I have spaced to hold those. I suggest you lay out the things you want to store, measure the space they will require, and see what you need . Cut a shelf size pattern out of poster board and see how everything will fit. How many shelves will you need? Where will you store the corkscrew, foil cutter, etc? I have a guest house with a tiny kitchenette, decorated with antiques, so I found a characterful cabinet in the back of an antique shop that held my coffee things. Once you decide how many supplies you need, you will be able to decide if two open shelves will be adequate or a cabinet is needed. I would have a cabinet to the ceiling so I could store those seasonal Christmas wine glasses and coffee mugs, bringing them done and temporarily storing the summertime patio wine glasses.

You can use a 15" or 18" deep upper cabinet, but have it set out from the back wall, to a comfortably reachable distance. Of course you could also pull a 12" deep cabinet forward, but the deeper cab would give a bit more storage space.

Thank you all! We decided on a top cabinet and to account for the depth, using an over the refrigerator cabinet that is 24” deep. Then three shelves below in a concrete laminate style. I’ll send a pic when done. Couple weeks away.

I agree. But with the space being 35” deep, I feel like I should fill more of it up.
Actually that makes me think of another question. Should the cabinet be flush with the front or is it ok to have it set back?

Yeah that’s what I think, it should all be set back. Super deep cabinets are going to look and function weirdly. Maybe 15” uppers and 27” lowers, but not more than that.

Assuming this is part of the kitchen or near by what does the rest of the kitchen look like or what style and colors are you using?

This is the view from the other side of the bar. We will eventually replace all cabinets and are in the process of new countertops and backsplash. Second pic is of location in kitchen. As you can see we have a lot going on in here with the washer and dryer too. Will put a countertop on w/d too to spruce it up. New cabinets too but not right now.

Ok, I have to ask, why are you putting in new countertops now when you plan to replace the cabinets?

The old ones were, IMO awful and we can’t do the whole remodel right now. I know it will be challenging to do afterwards but we have a year or two before we get new cabinets.

Denise - Are you aware that there is a chance that the countertops could be damaged and not able to be reused when you get new cabinets, and a near certainty that your backsplash will be damaged when you get new cabinets, as well? Maybe you've weighed the pros and cons, but this is not a gamble I would take. I'd save the money and do a full remodel when you can do everything at once.

This was my old house - closet turned into a wine bar. I loved it and loved the pink antique style mirror. That may not be your precise style - but I would say that you can go with something super fun in such a small spot with little risk. Enjoy your wine (or coffee!)
