For my stainless vent hood I used Vileda soft scrub sponge which doesn't scratch. Check to see if your stainless has a grain to it (my fridge, DW and vent hood all did) and only rub in the direction of the grain and not against it. I only used Dawn dishsoap to clean it as it cuts the grease on the vent hood without harsh chemicals.

I use 409 on a paper towel for anything greasy. Dawn is also good. I don't want to put grease down my drains. Then stainless steel cleaner about twice a year. I wipe the refrigerator handles down with a cellulose sponge and water about twice a day. The SS 16ga apron sink & sink grid, gets scrubbed with bar keepers friend once a week. The outside of the ovens, for fingerprints....soap & water on a cellulose sponge. For a drying towel, I buy nice/high end black hand towels from the bath section of stores. ☺

Mine os regular stainless steel , not dark. I use a spray cleaner or soapy rag, After that I use Zep stainless steel cleaner/polish with a flannel rags. Shines it up beautifully

I find the Norwex microfibre don't have that grippy feeling on my hands. I just wipe down with their cleaning cloth (sometimes I add a bit of their cleaning paste) and then go over with the purple polishing cloth. That's all I've ever used. I don't work for Norwex. I just like some of their products.

daisychain01, I bought some Norwex cloths and products last year. I haven't tried much of it. I did use a cloth for glass and mirrors and it worked like magic. I'll have to see what other clothes I have and given them a try. I do have their cleaning paste also.

I use regular dish detergent on a sponge - I do use the nonscratch scrubby side when needed & after 7 years of that there is no damage to the finish. I will rinse out the sponge and wipe with plain water to eliminate detergent streaks on the stove; on the fridge (different brand) I find that I need to actually dry it to be streak free, and a microfiber is the quickest. A regular clean dish towel will work but takes a bit more rubbing than the microfiber.

Ordinary cleanser in the SS sink. I didn't like the way Barkeeper's friend left it looking, seemed like I couldn't rinse it thoroughly enough.

I use a damp cloth to wipe and then something like Bon Ami with paper towel to get rid of streaks. It’s a constant struggle though. Especially when DH cooks. He likes to fry and doesn’t use the splatter screen I put out as a hint.

For most daily wipe downs, I use a dedicated fine microfiber cloth and warm water. I do not use that cloth for anything else As I don’t want particles to be embedded in it atnwould scratch the SS. I rinse it thoroughly. And if I need to use anything I mix Dawn with warm water and use the cloth. I have to keep an eye on my housekeepers though because they tend to use whatever...paper towels will scratch, and so will other cloths, depending on what you use.

I don't have a lot of stainless other than the backsplash and the the top trim on my range. I just use a damp microfiber cloth we buy by the multi packs at Harbor Freight. If it gets heavier splatter or grease a little rubbing alcohol does the trick. In fact when we first got our backsplash it had some shipping tape residue marks along with other streaky marks and DH simply sprayed it with alcohol and used a greenie scrubber with the grain before mounting it.. That how the shops that work stainless do it so what works for them also works at home. No need for special products marketed for stainless. Anything can etch stainless, even water, so you want to avoid drips and rivulets. Stainless dishwashers and fridges are well known to have problems with water etching and even rust spots due to condensation.

I clean, then polish it. I clean with Mr. Clean, clean freak. I polish with furniture polish, specifically Scott's Liquid Gold. Voila!
