I'm going to paint my bedroom and I was hoping to use EK paint. The room is not that big (maybe 11x13) and has one window (about 35"x72"h). The window faces north/west and since the backyard is covered with trees the light that comes through the window is diffused through the leaves so it looks greenish and the walls have a greenish cast. I put up some swatches of buttercream and luminaire but they have an odd green cast from the trees. I dislike the color green so I don't want to paint my room that color. I love trees, I just don't like green paint. The room will have a bed, a small dresser, and a Pottery Barn club chair in espresso brown leather. The floor is an old wood parquet in a light golden oak. We don't currently have a rug. We don't have bedding either. Normally I would just paint the room tan but the rest of my house is tan, so I'm a little tired of it. I was originally thinking that I'd paint the room a light color like lavender mist, but DH just informed me that our club chair has be moved to the bedroom. So now I'm stumped on a color for the walls. Part of me is thinking of a red shade, but I want the room to be calming since I may have a baby in there with me in another year or so. I am really stumped. Do you have any suggestions for a color? I'm open to other brands of paint, but I put up EK paint in my foyer and I just love the glowiness of it. EK is the only local full spectrum paint here.

I’m not an expert by any means, but the lovely dresser looks like maple to me. You could take a drawer to a furniture refinisher and he could probably tell you what it is. The beautiful floor resembles a knotty pine. It could be alder, or ... My oak floors are 63 years old. They are beautiful, too. Are they perfect; no! Are they scarred; yes! Scuffed; yes! Worn and lived in? Yes! They have a patina that cannot be duplicated except with 63 years of wear and tear. I sweep them with a broom, or vacuum them, and occasionally mop them with vinegar and water. NO Scott’s Liquid Gold; no “wood cleaners.” My dogs do not wear rubber nail covers, and the neighbor’s kid can play trucks on them anytime he wishes. I love my floors; they are nice enough for the Queen to visit. I know she is used to a bit of dog hair! Enjoy your lovely room and furnishings. As for paint, I’m partial to greens of all shades and all the rich jewel-toned colors myself. I know I am the only non-grey person living, but if I see yet another room with grey walls, grey ceiling, grey upholstery, grey rugs, maybe an oversized brown chair, white trim and the “amazing ‘pop’ of electric blue” I think I’ll scream - but that’s just me!

IMO you have enough gray if you look at the previous owners furniture that green color looks awesome with those floors so I would do a very soft gray/ green it will look good with the floors and not be a big gray box. I would suggest some more grown up art on the walls and save those for a diffent space and make sure when you hang the new art it is hung so the center of the work is at eye level which is usually about 65”

Two tone is lovely. On our fireplace wall we mistakenly chose a tv larger than the fireplace insert. That was all on us though, it was designed not like that and we went off script...oops. Anyway you won’t have that problem with tv beside fireplace but I’m attaching pic below anyhow for an idea and how adding a bit of colour looks good. You said you didn’t want grey though. :)
