help with mirrors over console

I’m trying to finish my DR. One wall is a picture grid gallery of black and white family pics. The back wall (focus wall) I’m thinking of getting this credenza (80 in wide). And wanted to do 2 mirrors above it (42in each wide) Do these mirrors go? And can I go little wider then console? Mirrors are like an iron, wood mix. Not gold. Or can you recommend mirrors. Need 2. Console is 80 inch wide. Waiting in chairs RH slip cover chairs. And it’s the back wall don’t have pic

Love the console . I dislike mirrors in DRs since no one wants to watch temselves eating. I also do not like family pics in public spaces a awesome piece of art is always preferable IMO The pic seems distorted to me soa maybe post the roome meaurements and a pic of the wall the console is going on . I do not loke those mirrors with that console . No you cannot go wider than the console . I do not think the rug works with the chandelier either .

I like all your selections, but I don't think that going wider than the console works. I agree also that mirrors in dining room don't do it for me- . It does work for me if it's a small or very raised mirror but not one that will just project the view at the table.

I think family photos are great.

Thank God!! Someone finally suggested her picking what she likes...I read all of this and just groaned...I was looking to get a simple suggested ratio for horizontal picture to a stinking console. Now I have an idea and I saw a lot of things that I would give me zero joy...But then I like eclectic items. So it's all good...I truly think the real key here is to go with what makes you happy and what gives you joy. Someone else may not like it, but it's not their place... as soon as we quit worrying about what other people think about our decorating, then each person's personality will find that perfect mix... (Oh, remember, on your console, be sure you leave enough room so that one of your babies can curl up on the end nearesr a window or the front door to help be the official greeter ...like Wal*Bark??...Sorry, I don't know where that came from...)

Don't choose art because it "goes" with your furnishings. Choose art because you love it and it makes you happy each time you see it. Personally I like the size of the piece you have now, but only you know if you enjoy it well enough to keep it there.

Calidesign, I could open the doors all the way even with two cabinets on the wall. Photos are deceiving sometimes, aren’t they? I agree that my end table should go in between the sofa and the chair - but this room is so odd-nothing seems to work without an area looking too crowded or off balanced. I’ve had a really hard time trying to figure out what to do in here- and I’m not crazy about what I have to work with either. Also disappointed that the size rug that was recommended is slightly too small. It’s just been really frustrating. I’ll play around with the layout you suggested. I may just sell everything and start over.

Very good thoughts, thank you. Yes, I am open to putting a piece of art over the console table. It would likely add some needed color. I can probably place an oval mirror in the front foyer part of the entrance. I'll look in Etsy at some paintings to see if there is anything interesting. I am very open to suggestions. THANK YOU so much.

You have a lovely contemporary glam/luxe chandelier, so I think I’d go with a mirror or mirrors that reflect that (no pun intended). ;)

The light reflection would be beautiful.

A few examples ...

If you want it more dramatic, go big ...

But if you really love those mirrors, use them! It’s your room, and I don’t know what the rest of your house looks like (or the wall they’ll be on).
