Help me choose mirrored table (pics)
Comments (33)Thanks, Scooby and Tin! Funny, I came a long way from my inspiration photo. I don't take inspiration photos all that literally as some do-- but I go for a look, feel and a "funk level". I actually found the mirror topped table because the Cote de texas blog (and Parma) got me hooked on zinc top tables. I knew I needed a "smooth top" but I wanted the rustic look. I was looking at Sydelle and Jay's zinc top tables when I noticed they also had the mirrored table .. it was immediate lust. I think I will probably go for a jute or seagrass rug-- it isn't what I planned but I think it will fit well and transition well to both connecting rooms. I still like the idea of the chairs in my inspiration photo.. I love the traditional style paired with a fresh and current fabric or color. I also love the slipcovered chairs suggested in the last thread. The slipcovered iron are my favs-- but I also like the hominess of the parsons chairs (and let me be honest-- the great price sways me too). I am even considering a pair of more substantial upholstered chairs-- not dining chairs per se but more of an accent chair. I don't entertain all that often and I love the idea of a cozy spot for coffee and a book-- or an intimate meal for two. Oh the places I could go.. if only money wasn't an issue LOL. Here is the inspiration photo that set me off on this path. Not even close, huh?...See MoreHelp picking out new pendant lights in entrance way- what style?
Comments (24)Are we talking about the "entry" right at the front door? Or the space up on the step up area toward the stairs. Basically, though, it's the base of the table that will somewhat define the style. The more rustic, it becomes more "Mountain lodge" and the more refined it can go modern, contemporary or even more "transitional". They are also pretty expensive so before you invest money there, figure out how much you want to or can spend now, and then start selecting things you like and create an "Ideabook" here on Houzz. That will help you "define" which style direction you like. You can "like" a number of styles, but ultimately one will become more apparent than others....See MoreWhat kind of mirror would you put above this console table?
Comments (44)DK- Last year one of our cats ate my entire ASPCA approved pet-friendly palm plant. He ate little bits at a time so as to not raise suspicion. When all was said and done, we had spent $5,000 in surgery & vet fees to have the contents of my plant removed from Hobbes’ lower intestines. I love love love the look of real plants in any interior space. If I could, I’d fill up my entire house. Unfortunately I can’t risk endangering my babies again. I don’t know what’s wrong with them lol. The other day my husband dragged a leaf in on the back of his work boots. It took less than 4 minutes for me to find Hobbes huddled in the corner having a little snack. Hold on I’ll take a photo of my living room for ya...See MoreHelp with entryway proportions: Console + Mirror sizes?
Comments (7)Bigger is better as you're realizing. The console can be as wide as 75% of the space between the blue tape and the bedroom door. Then the mirror can be as wide as 75% of the console's length and should hang 5" above it. Does that help? Don't forget a striking area rug and light fixture! Do you still have matching paint to use on the vent above so it fades into the wall?...See Moredonmarshe
