Outdoor covered patio with porcelain tile floor Mud or Leveler?

Hi,

I hope some of you can help me. I've built a structured raised patio with cinder block and concrete.....same foundation as a house just won't have walls except it extends if the back of the house.

I am installing 3/4 porcelain tile as my floor but my tile contractor is telling me I need a mud base in addition to the ditra and thinset prior to the tile being placed. The issue is that the GC poured the concrete already and there is a maximum of 1 1/2 inches for everything. They are each holding their ground and I am not sure who to believe. Can they use a leveler compound instead of the mud? Any recommendations and/or opinions would be appreciated. Thanks.
