Your realtor is giving bad advice, leave the brick alone, you will disappoint the diehard MCM buyers. Your eye goes to light colours first, so leave all the trim especially at the roofline light, no black. If it was my home, I would consider painting the walls a warm taupe/grey, it has to work with the roof color, the brick and the mortar. Choose your colors carefully, you should hire a color expert to be on site. Or don’t paint at all, leave it to the buyer. Maybe the wood at the entry can be restored. Please don’t change anything that is authentic. This example photo shows how the wall and carport support was painted a color to work well with the brick.

Thank you! That is a great idea about the grey - I think minimizing the white would really help. The landscaping idea is also very clever. I was playing with the house facade last night, and was trying to figure out if anything else could be done with the entry area to brighten it up with an accent color. Now I see your comments about perhaps not doing an accent color may be better. The original house at the back was built in the 1960s and has beautiful wood vaulted ceilings, so the interior has a lot of potential. A very 90s addition was put on the front of the house, with these semi-circle windows and tile roof - so we are trying our best to tie these varying styles together. I appreciate your help! I have a house that's very MCM on the inside and rather ordinary looking outside. we updated our garage door and it made a huge difference. (it's like the one pictured below, but in white.) I really like the mockups celerygirl posted. I think her ideas are going to be your best bet. you're not going to really be able to make your home look like a true midcentury, but improvements such those will make it look up to date and MCM inspired. I think funky landscaping can really help, and don't forget little touches like lighting.

Thanks Adriel. The color wheel has been helpful. I have figured out that I need a paint with orange undertones to counteract the very cool blue light coming in the large north facing windows. At the moment, I’m leaning toward SW Moderate White. I’ve also determined that I need different colors for different parts of the house because the light is so drastically different. Probably SW Pearly White. I was hoping to get away with one whole house color. I may end up painting or staining the red mahogany later because it is just too red/orange for my taste.
