Lars, I have no idea how I know this, but that's Ida Lupino and Howard Duff. It might be because they were once in an old I Love Lucy episode. No idea about the name of the show you mentioned.

Here's another show that I watched in reruns with my mother:

Doug Edwards was on CBS News for 15 minutes nightly from 1948 until 1962.. He was there longer with CBS. Think his time slot started at 6 each night.

Lars: Is that The Ann Sothern show? I recall it was the same theme of many shows of that era. Men trying to control zany women. She was a secretary, Susie?

mdn: 7Brides for Seven Bothers. A favorite back in the day.

Courtship of Eddie's Father is above..I was searching for a picture and looked to see if anyone beat me to it. LOVED that intro and theme song!! I knew it was a movie first but I had no idea it stared Ron Howard!!!

The TV show was Here Come the Brides with David Soul, Bobby Sherman, Joan Blondell

It was based on Severn Brides for Seven Sisters.

The photo I posted up thread with the shirtless fellow on the boat was Gardner McKay and the show was Adventures in Paradise. I don't think anyone guessed it.

Nickel: Upstairs Downstairs was a must-see for me on Masterpiece Theater. I thought it was better than Downton Abbey.

We got rid of Dish and started streaming about 2 months ago. So many free channels! And old shows. I have been watching Hill Street Blues, Naked City, and Johnny Yuma, the Rebel. Already seen all the original Perry Masons (except season 6 and 9 which they don't seem to show), and all of the Gunsmoke and Rifleman shows. So much fun!

I still want to know what is the show of Richards with the 2 guys wearing aprons. The first one he posted.

Maire_Cate, I was listening to one of my Jimmy Buffet albums last night and this morning looked up Gardner McKay since JB referenced him more than once! I had no clue about him or his TV show. An interesting character!

bengardening, that was a show called "I'm Dickens, He's Fenster". That's John Astin on the left, Marty Ingels on the right. I just barely remember the show, but not whether I enjoyed it!

The Ann Sothern Show came later, with almost the same cast. This is from the earlier show, Private Secretary. These shows were mainly about women manipulating men instead of vice versa. The boss only thought he was in control.

Since noone tried to guess mine I will tell who it is. It was a kids show that was broadcast out of Sioux Falls SD called Captain 11. I thought maybe someone who was in that area would know it. I am from ND and when I moved down here to SD people would talk about it and I never had even heard of it. So I had to ask what they were talking about.

I had a huge crush on the guy on the right. He sort of resembled Paul Newman with long hair. I clearly had many crushes on TV stars when I was a kid.

I remember I liked Here Come The Brides because Bobby Sherman was in it - another crush.

Ah! I remember Cleo the Bassett Hound. But I had to look up the title - it's The People's choice. I don't remember anything about the show - just the dog.

Raee - now that you mentioned Jimmy Buffett and Gardner McKay - I had to look up that reference. The show ran from 1959 -1962 and I guess JB watched it when he was kid too. McKay did lead quite an interesting, adventurous life.

Don't know the first one of Annie's (possibly Have Gun, Will Travel, although I think there were moustaches in that), but I do remember The People's Choice.

Annie: Yours was High Chaparral. As for the other one, I seem to recall Jackie Cooper sharing billing with a basset hound, but the title escapes me.

HU, you got December Bride and Pete & Gladys correct. I liked both of those shows as a small child.

I'm not sure I ever saw High Chaparral. I did not watch westerns much except for when we visited our grandparents in West Texas - grandfather was a huge fan of westerns (especially Gunsmoke) and raised quarter horses as a hobby. He had other horses as well, and I especially liked the palomino he had when I was four and which he used to take me with him on it. He liked trading horses and riding on his ranch, even though it was not a working ranch.

This one's pretty easy.

Chloe - I recognise Bob Conrad, Connie Stevens and Troy Donahue, but no idea about the show.

Isn't it funny how we all seem to have certain programs familiar to us, but completely unfamiliar to others? I don't think it's age, but perhaps it is, along with location?

Carol, it's actually Troy Donahue but easy to think Tab Hunter. I loved watching the show just to see Connie's different straw hats. I think my mom finally bought me one. :-)

I think you're right about location factoring in with some of these.

Hawaiian Eye. I didn't realize that Robert Conrad was in it. I only remembered Connie Stevens.

Right...Hawaiian Eye. Robert Conrad never really made it in movies, but he seemed to keep busy with TV.

Carol, yes, that is Jimmy Olsen from Superman. I got to meet one of the Lois Lanes at a comic book festival in L.A. - not the first LL, but the second one. The second one is more famous for the role, as the first one did not last long.

Mdln, is that from Kukla Fran and Ollie? I do not remember a man being on that show - only a woman, and my memory of it is very dim. The main thing I remember from that show is the Nestlé Chocolate commercial.

I remember seeing Troy Donahue on the cover of teen magazines that my sister's friends had more than I remember Tab Hunter, but I did like Tab Hunter better.

If you remember the Art Linkletter Show and the segment Kids Say the Darnedest Things, Art would frequently ask children which celebrities they would choose for their parents. I really wanted to be on that show and tell Art Linkletter that I wanted to have Tab Hunter for my father and Nathalie Wood for my mother. I did not even realize at that age that Tab and Nathalie had gone on studio dates together or that Tab Hunter was gay. I finally did meet Tab Hunter at an autograph party in Hollywood when his autobiography came out. When I was a bit older, I wanted Jayne Mansfield for my mother - or Gina Lollobrigida.

Of course you had to suspend belief that back in those days, he could get from San Francisco to wherever in a flash....it only ever took one scene!
