surface finish for hallway study nook

Gavin

We’re just planning a new home and discussions re the finish of the study nook were interesting. At one end of the hallway we enter the kitchen with shaker panels and marble look tops. (Dark grey island and polar white wall cupboards/overheads). At the other end is the laundry with dark grey shaker/marble combo.
Neither are in direct eye sight of the study nook.
The surface discussion centred on going laminate with a plain finish so the study nook didn’t look like a kitchenette stuck halfway down the hall or having it match.
Anyone done something similar lately ? What aesthetic did you go with?
