Sleep Problems - Problem #1 (long)
Comments (4)With what you said about the crying, no. DS learned to calm himself down over time when we left him to cry. All it did was teach him that he could do it himself and he didn't need Mom or Dad to help him calm down. It depends on the sound of the cries, though, of course. I read this stuff in a Parenting magazine. I have learned more by taking care of DS that running to them when they cry, teaches them that you will always do that so when you can't, they scream louder and cry because they think you're not coming. Everyone seems to have some type of sleeping problem with they're baby and you're just going to have to figure out what works with her. Maybe her schedule isn't working? I did read your other post and it seems that your two sleep problems do go more hand in hand than you think. It may not be the crib that's making this happen since you've always had problems but it's probably adding to it now. It's a change and change can drive some people crazy as you may have learned. I guess all you can do is work on your night time routine more and like I said in that post (I haven't re-read again, yet, though) maybe you're trying to start relax time too soon for her so she's not wearing off energy and getting tired. Have you tried doing bathtime at another time? DS has always gotten his in the morning and was fine about sleeping at night. What works for others, may not work for you so it just takes some guessing. ~Leslie~...See MoreLong, dark, low, depressing hall wall color suggestions?
Comments (32)Trees! That would be fun. I had been thinking of a spot to stick up that Cole & Son "Woods" paper, but a smaller pattern might work better with so many doors. And grasscloth. I had looked into it for my entry hall and living room and elsewhere (perfect cover for 50s paneling, right?) and was under the impression that it just wasn't durable enough. I'd love to be wrong. Or find a good faux grasscloth. WHERE does one go to look at wallpaper in person these days? Seriously, are there any more wallpaper stores? You all have not made this easier at all by giving me so many options I hadn't considered! So thanks! :) Do we all agree that the can lights must go, or is replacing them with ones that actually illuminate good enough? With the furnace intake and an attic access panel and four of the recessed lights, I think that the ceiling is sort of busy and making the light fixtures more substantial might help distract from that. Really, this hall isn't awful. I'm putting off the rest of the house because this is actually manageable. Actually I was planning on doing the entry hall which is well-lit and also brown and thought I needed to carry the treatment into this hall which branches off from it but there is a door. I don't have to match! Gee. I need to focus. :)...See MoreLong Hallway - Is there any possible solution for this problem?
Comments (18)Hello all, I would like to share and hear your comments on more information I added after you kindly helped me with the hallway. As I am placing the items, it seems as not that long anymore. Please bear with my drawing as i don't have the technical skills as most of you have , you can laugh of it as it is very simple... :) :) but I hope I can share the message.. What about adding some visual separation using the ceiling height or it would be too "busy", too many things at once?. Which painting would you place beside the sideboard? I was thinking of the rectangular Oops I forgot something.... I might be jumping too far ahead as we are still on planning phase. This help me to see if the layout will work with the painting and of course the ceiling is something I should decide. thanks again Thanks again for taking your time to help....See MoreFloor Plan Feedback Please!
Comments (57)@Mark Bischak Your logic is flawed. People are supposed to hire an architect, tell them their needs and the architect will use best practices and creative genius to design the perfect floorplan. Applying that logic Businesses are supposed to hire a marketing firm, tell them their needs and the marketing firm will use best practices and creative genus to create the perfect marketing plan. But Mark Bischak knows more than his marketing firm. He is not willing to hand over the reins for his business to some professional. He drives his own car. He won't trust someone else to implement best practices, help him refine his target, reach the people who are most likely to engage his services - he wants to reach everyone. Mark expects his marketing firm to do their job as instructed by the client. The marketing design professionals cannot be trusted to know their craft better than the client. Applying that logic to the home building process, I better know exactly what I want, I better do my own research and be able to correct your mistakes, as I cannot trust that you know your craft better than your client. I say that I am capable of driving my own car, I am more comfortable driving my own car than trusting someone else to do the driving, but when necessary I travel by plane, sit back and relax and let the pilot take responsibility for reaching my destination....See MoreMaryAnne Smith
