Saffron Spike care question

Hi, my Saffron Spike had been thriving for about 1.5 years, until a couple weeks ago when brown tips started appearing on some of the leaves. The dryness/decay progressed significantly on a few but appears to have stopped (for now, anyway).

Around the same time, the uppermost leaves also started crinkling, which had never happened before either. (Both problems pictured below.)

I know brown tips normally mean underwatering, but I've been just as vigilant about making sure the soil doesn't dry out for as long as I've owned the plant. I tried moving it to a new spot in the apartment a few days ago because I thought it might be stressed by not getting enough sun but that was just a guess at a possible solution.

A couple of very small saplings are also growing at the base now, too, which confuses me even more. I would think those wouldn't have a chance to develop if the plant was dying.

Any ideas re: what I might need to change? Would appreciate any guidance!
